*Spoilers in this*

Ok at first I was really looking forward to this series, I am a big GL fan and was excited about a new big GL event happening . However now at issue #4 I am kinda disapointed in this series. Now the first issue as always is a lame build up mystery issue, its ok I expect these . But once they get into it you find out that Parallax is actually a soul parasite type thing . I hate this , I really liked that Hal Jordan went nuts turned into a super rough villain and finally started utizilizing the full potential of the GL powers, I liked it because he chose to or thats the way it seemed . Now after reading this it turns out to be some ancient evil possesed him and made him do it so in reality hes not a bad guy . LAME LAME LAME .
The GL series has been lacking for a while now and I was hoping something cool would happen in this , but no. I think the writers with GL have the same problem they have with Superman, its that the character is ultra rough and has all this power yet seemingly never use it , or have struggles with the most miniscule of things. Now Sinestro coming back to life? Am I surprised? NO . Am I mad? NO its ok, this happens in comics enough I wont fault them for doing it. Since he is like the only villain that can stand up to a GL. I was hoping for something along the lines of the old GL corps book days that were sci fi campy and culty and just out there, I loved those . But this is not that, and another thing that sucks about it is the original event that brought Kyle Rayner into the GL world and turned Hal evil was a great event and series! Its a shame they would blemish some of the real solid good stuff these characters have ever had. I just hope the new series that launch from this are good .

Not much to say but I'm super siked that Hal is back and issue 4's last panel was awesome. I'm really pissed that DC delayed #5 to april 6th I believe.

One of the greatest story archs in comic history was Hal becoming Parallax and what happened afterwards.

What a ****ing shame.

SPOILERS AHOY!

My brother's been picking this up and I've been reading his copies. The whole thing with Parallax as a possessing parasite or whatever really lessens the impact of all the stuff that came before. I'd much rather read the story of a man that went over the edge and has to work his ass off to redeem himself than someone who was used as a tool through no fault of his own. I mean, this is why people all over the world love Wolverine and Kenshin, right? Because they used to be merciless killers that have decided to give it all up and do good in the world. The art, however, was pretty awesome.

I dunno. They really lamed out on this one, and it's a shame. As much as I couldn't care less about superheroes these days, the DC events have kind of prodded me into seeking out comic shops again.

I agree with you 100% .

Carter I like the big events too, as its a way where you get a good dose of all sorts of characters together not just one half assed story, I just wish this one was good haha! :D Actually I also agree 100% with everything you said Im just too newbish to know how to double quote.

I am so glad other people think that the Parallax parasite was a cop-out as well. I'm really disappointed in Geoff Jones with this plot. He's know for revamping characters that have gone down a bit.
I'm a huge GL fan and it's the only book i buy even when it's not good. But this series is such a let down. you're right Carter, there was so much more potential to this story.
I'm also highly impressed by Ethan Van Sciver. I've never liked his art prior to the series. I remember a Wolverine he did for a cover of Wizard that was atrocious. and most of his art in New X-men was sub-par. he had some realy issues with proportions. but he's nearly impeccable in GL: Rebrith. I'm very surprised and happy that he got his act together.

OK so issue 6 comes along and is well, A disapointment.

Cmon man they build up the friggin last battle between Parallax and the GLs for 5 issues and here it is in 6 and it is so WEAK . Parallax just took it like a bitch , after all the hype "Oh he`s an eternal evil he is so bad he turned Hal bad, he killed all the other guardians wah wah wah" and He doesnt even do anything except snarl and fart? BOO! On another note, the whole Guy Gardner thing, mind you I am glad they brought him back to being a GL (personally I thought it ruled when he had the yellow ring) and got rid of that craptastic warrior thing they had going on, but they didnt explain it really well or anything "He uh, those powers he had that even we thought were lame are taking a nap" So all in all I am glad GL is getting more attention but this series really sucked, Issue 5 was the only good one every other one was pretty lame.

GL: Rebrith is admittedly Johns' worst work that I'm aware of. But it is Sciver best. (did you see his New X-Men work? crapolla, this, near perfection) the Parallax battle was crap, but the redeeming factor was Hal's internal dialogue. I loved his describing the way each GL uses his ring. (Kilowag's is the only one that makes a sound) But, like I said above, I'm mostly disappointed that Johns blamed the whole Parallax fiasco on a monster. It would have made a much better story to have Hal come to his senses and try to redeem himself. Hell, Batman still doesn't trust him at all, it would have been nice to have them all do it.

I can imagine GL and GA squaring off if he were still in that ambiguous state of evil/not evil. Pure drama right there.

The final Kyle Rayner arc was what got me into GL, and this has got me out, thankfully before I spent too much money.

I'm digusted that they'd bring back such a worthless and weak character like Hal, he should've stayed buried.

hal's an excellant character if done correctly. he is a dry yes and somewhat two-deminsional (eh) but he has the potential of being awesome. and every so often a writer comes around that can use it.

but i agree, rayner is a more interesting character.
