View Full Version : TG Hellboy Discussion
wow..I am utterly dissapointed at the professionalism at this forum..No disrespect PencilJack but That wasnt freindly at all. I know by saying my true feeling i may get dismembered, but I have to stick by my morals. Everyone (minus 1 - Chuck-Tropolis-) had an account here at PJ. I mean..of course they did..how else could they vote for themselves ;P? I know of plenty past posts where the owner of the thread did not participate....why then is there so much predjudice from the webmaster? I am asking for the thread to be reopened..if you want me to put the REAL names of the contestents so you can verify their membership..then I will (I already posted WHY I changed the names), and I will make sure future competitors create an account prior to entering. PencilBoy assisted me in that challenge post by the way, Please reconsider and re-open the thread.

Terry is plenty friendly when you follow the guidelines here. Truthfully I had never seen you guys before. I think things might have been different if you and your buddies might have posted the pics under your own names in the Drawing forum. Then maybe you could've started the drawoff thread. Its not fair on your part to say that its unprofessional here because he's acting on HIS own rules.

Its rare that a drawoff is posted by someone who isn't a participant and it's very rare that the entrants aren't members. If caught, those threads are usually locked. Maybe one or two have slipped through the cracks, but I can't honestly say that I've seen any. And I'm a very regular participant in the arena.
I like the guys at Timegate who I've chatted with and competed against here, but rules are rules.
I challenge all of you whenever you have the spare time!

I think Jonah proved that he owned this contest from the start... really, opening the voting thread up again would only further embarrass his studiomates.

That may be true but Its not all about the votes..its about why some things were not picked or picked. Its a learning experience. I have been in a previous drawoff will pencilboy when I first started here...and I remind everyone that these guys ARE members except for one. IMHO Webmaster should have explained more and allowed me to fix the names before locking the thread.

yeah, that part's between you and Terry (penciljack). I was just trying to lighten the thread a little with a little smack talk.
You might be better off sending him a private message to grab his attention.

I just love it when folks say something like "wow..I am utterly dissapointed at the professionalism at this forum" and then follow it up with, "No disrespect PencilJack." This isn't an issue of professionalism per se, it's an issue of our policies. Professionalism is a two-edged sword and would involve investigating the policies and then abiding by them. And, if you have a problem, it's always a bit more professional to take it up with me personally than to post a complaint in an inappropriate forum.
Let's get some things out of the way, though -
If you've seen Duels get by that feature non-members, please point them out and I'll deal with them as soon as possible.
If you've seen Duels get by that were started by non-participants, please point them out and I'll close them as soon as you possible.
In your quest for professionalism, please consider things from my point of view, would you? For example, the thread is titled "Hellboy Drawoff at TG " and then you go on in the topic to discuss all the new talent at TimeGate. Right off the bat it sounds like a promotional device.
Then it appears you haven't participated in the Duel, which, again, is a no-no in the Arena.
Then there's the issue of creating fake names - I fail to see the point of that, and to be honest I might have closed the topic on that basis alone.
So I'm sorry, but I'm not going to reopen the topic. If you want to promote TimeGate, please feel free to use the appropriate venue here (News, Updates & Announcements). If the participants want to organize a Duel here and post their work, they're more than free to do so under their own usernames, providing they're all members.
I think that about covers it.
Hrmmm..I respect what you say and partly agree. I apologize if I offended you in any way, this was in no way whatsoever a Timegate promotion as much as it wasnt a Hellboy Promotion. For what its worth its a innocent competition between a few people (most of which brand new to PJ and no webspace of their own so I personally handled the posting on this site and my website). I gueesss if I would have carefully read the rules this wouldnt have happened so "My Bad". Just cause I dont understand the rules doesnt mean they dont exist.

You're exactly right, just because rules were fudged doesn't mean someone doesn't exist - but I have no way of knowing, obviously, when you use fake names, etc.
I think even though there isn't a consolidated, clearly posted set of rules in the Arena (yet - I'm working on it), you'll find we've been pretty consistent in handling stuff in there, specifically with regards to this issue. Stuff gets through, sure. We can't catch everything. But we try.
For informational purposes, we insist that only participants instigate and post duels so as to avoid the folks who want to try to use the Arena as their own personal contest forums and stuff like that.
In general, you'll probably have noticed, too, that we jealously guard all our forums (except News, Updates & Announcements) so as to keep them as free of solicitation as possible. In that regard, I'd much rather err on the side of extra caution than to allow stuff to slip through. Sometimes, though, posts like yours can get caught in the middle.
Your friends should feel free to repost their drawings as long as they're all registered members and as long as one of the participants actually creates the topic.
