Hey guys! I'm new to the forum, so first off, I'm glad to be a part of the community here :D What better way to get to know some of you guys than to have you critique my script :D If you have any questions, please let me know!! Here's the first 11 pages!
Aeon Rift #1
Page 1: Splash Page
View from the sky (at an angle, not straight down), looking down at Justin holding his best friend Matt's head in his lap. Matt is otherwise lying flat on the road (not in a crosswalk). Matt's eyes are transfixed skyward as a slight drop of blood rolls down his cheek. Justin also looks skyward, crying, face strained as if yelling. It's raining torrentially. In the background, a few people look on, most with arms crossed. No faces at this point.. the shortest person is only in the shot up to his/her chest. Let's do something creative to let the reader know this is a dream sequence, but nothing too noticeable. I don't want them to really realize it until page 4.
[Note: The narrator is a 5th recurring character set to show up in issue #3. All his captions should be yellow. BEGIN DREAM SEQUENCE.]
_Caption 1:May 4, 2000. 2:55 PM.
Caption 2: HE NEVER SAW THE CAR.
Caption 3: DO WE EVER SEE DEATH COMING TO TAKE US AWAY?
Caption 4: IT WAITS FOR US LIKE A CAT IN THE SHADOWS.

Page 2: Two panels, panel 1 is slightly larger than panel 2.
PANEL 1: Justin is now standing. Paramedics push Justin out of the way as they reach down for Matt. As they start to do resusitation work, Justin stands there in shock. He has a blank stare on his face as he peers at some random point in the distance. He is very detached.
Caption 1: IF I WOULD HAVE BEEN QUICKER.
Caption 2: IF I WOULD HAVE DONE SOMETHING -- ANYTHING.
Paramedic 1: HE'S NOT BREATHING!
PANEL 2: Paramedics have Matt on a stretcher with oxygen attached to his face. Shot has the backend of an ambulance on the left side. Paramedics are wheeling him toward it. Justin is still in the same position, his arms crossed defensively now. Paramedic #2 has a look of surprise on his face.
Caption 1: LIKE A GHOST, I STOOD THERE.
Caption 2: WATCHING HIM...
Caption 3: WHILE DEATH TOOK HIM AWAY.
Paramedic #2: OH MY -- !
Page 3: 5 Panels, Panel 1 and 2 are the same size. Panel 3 is in the middle, all the way from left to right. Panel 4 and 5 are the same size as panels 1 and 2.
PANEL 1: View of Matt in the foreground, sitting straight up on the stretcher. Paramedics quickly leap back -- paramedic #1 is leaning back with his hands in the air. The oxygen mask falls off Matt's face.
Matt: GOOD ONE, JUSTIN.
Justin: *GASP* MATT!?
PANEL 2: Matt is off the stretcher now; he's walking toward Justin. Angle is from the same as Panel 1. Justin begins walking toward Matt as well. Stretcher is still in the foreground.
Justin: I THOUGHT YOU WERE DEAD! (rain makes SPLOOSH noises at his feet because it’s getting deep)
PANEL 3: Shot of Matt and Justin's heads, facing each other. Shot is from the shoulders up. Bring this shot in closer if it looks better.
Matt: I AM.
PANEL 4: Shot from the waist up of Matt and Justin. Matt points his finger at Justin menacingly.
Matt: I CAME BACK LONG ENOUGH TO LET YOU KNOW THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT.
PANEL 5: Close-up of Justin's rain-soaked face. Justin sports a confused, hurt look on his face.
Justin: BUT… I.. !
[END OF DREAM SEQUENCE.]
Page 4: 7 panels, three rows. Panel 1 extends all the way from left to right. Panels 2-4 and 5-7 are meant to show Justin speeding through activities, so think about possibly making each one shorter from left to right.
PANEL 1: Shot of alarm clock in the foreground showing 7:38. Not sure how much of the room can be seen in this shot (I'll leave it up to you), but try to throw in a couple subtle hints of messiness. Maybe a sock on a lamp beside the alarm clock? Everythign is quiet except for the alarm clock buzzing.
PANEL 2: Justin sits up in bed looking quite stunned. Shot is from the foot of the bed as Justin sits up to face the reader. Justin is panting from his scary dream.
Justin’s Mom: (through the door) JUSTIN MITCHELL TAYLOR -- IF YOU'RE LATE AGAIN, YOU'RE NOT GOING TO THAT DANCE TONIGHT!
PANEL 3: Shot of Justin, wide eyed, in front of a mirror from behind Justin's left shoulder. Justin's messy hair is in the foreground on the right side. The mirror is an entire waist up shot of Justin. The sink is also at the bottom of the shot. Justin has a toothbrush in hand, possibly brushing his teeth or getting ready to.
PANEL 4: Shot of Justin in his room, looking for a shirt frantically. The light is on now. He is throwing clothes on the floor into the air. A poster of "Wyld Cavvy" is on the wall. If you don't know, a cavvy is a guinea pig :) It doesn't have to be real detailed, but I'd like to see a punk rockin' guinea on the wall!
PANEL 5: Shot of Justin running past a mirror in the hallway from the chest up.
PANEL 6: Shot of Justin coming back to the mirror and placing his hand on his head, gasping because he forgot to comb his hair.
Justin: UGH!!
PANEL 7: Shot of Justin running out of his family's apartment and down the stairs with his toboggan on. Door slams behind him. Distorted shot of his face and upper half in the foreground to make it appear that he's running down the stairs quickly.
Justin: WHY AM I ALWAYS LATE -- !!
Page 5: Two panels. Panel 1 is 3/4 of the page.
PANEL 1: Justin smacks right into Kris. Her books fly into the air. Chell has a look of shock on her face. Her arms are raised into the air, apparently trying to catch them all. Unfortunately, she's way too far away! Possibly even draw her jumping up in the air, trying to catch them. Kris also looks off balance because she's going to fall and be on the ground in the next panel.
Justin: GET OUT OF MY WAY, GEEK GIRL!
Chell: I GOT IT!
PANEL 2: Justin is off in the distance, still running, not stopping to help. Kris is mad on the ground, picking up her books. Chell looks toward the reader with hearts in her eyes and her tounge out.
Chell: HE'S A HOTTIE! *GIGGLE*
Kris: (anger lines emanating from her head -- feel free to draw it imossibly huge if you feel the need) SHUT-UP AND HELP ME!
Possibly split this into two panels, giving Kris a chance to glare at Michelle in the first one, then Michelle can react to Kris' yelling by cowering back.
Page 6: 8 Panels. Panels 1 - 5 are all the same size and form a horizontal line. Panels 6 and 7 are seemingly one panel split by a diagonal break (from left to right) in the middle. Panel 8 fills the bottom.
Panels 1 - 5: Quick shots of Justin going against a crowd, trying to get to the bus before he misses it. Create a sense of urgency. In the last panel, he pushes Cody out of the way and gets into a clearing.
Panel 6: Shot of Cody in the foreground on the left, his back facing the reader. He's looking up at the bus at Justin getting on.
Panel 7: Justin getting onto the bus. Bus makes the airbrake noise, signalling it's leaving now.
Justin: JUST IN TIME! MAN I'M GOOD!
Off Panel: WAIT! WAIT!!
Panel 8: Kris and Chell show up a second too late. The bus drives off, leaving a "WHOOOSH!" Kris has a sour look on her face. Cody looks indifferent, but sad as well (typical Cody!). Chell is beside Cody with heart eyes again. She's getting ready to tap him on the shoulder.
Page 7: 3 panels. Panels 1 and 2 on the top -- panel 3 on the bottom. Panel 3 is relatively 70% of the page.
PANEL 1: Shot of an old, rusty gate closed and padlocked with brick walls on both sides. A road runs under the gate and winds off toward the silhouette of a large house. A plaque with the words "1129 Sìorruidh Lane" is somewhere on the wall. FYI: This is a bit of foreshadowing -- if we can work it in, that'd rock. 11:29 is the time that everything goes to heck. Siorruidh is Gaelic for eternal. A whoosh of wind blows leaves around behind the gate.
Fiery caption: I AM A PRISONER.
Panel 2: Close-up shot of the house. Ivy coats the outside. Entire place is made of brick. A dim light shines in several of the small basement windows.
Fiery caption: LIKE A SPIDER'S WEB, THIS WORLD BINDS ME.
PANEL 3: Shot of Infinitus sitting down in the shadows with a torch on each side of his throne. Very mysterious shot. The only thing you can really make out is a vague outline and his glowing yellow eyes. A demon symbol is glowing at his feet.
Fiery caption 1: EACH DAY, I GROW STRONGER.
Fiery caption 2: EACH DAY, THE WEB TANGLES.
Infinitus: (Demon symbols for chanting in a talk bubble)

PANEL 1: A shadowy, clawed hand hovers in the air, holding a twig with odd shaped leaves. All this is done via silhouette. This shot represents Infinitus dropping another ingredient into the fiery demon circle.
Fiery caption: FOR CENTURIES, I HAVE WORKED FOR ONE THING.
PANEL 2: The twig falls through the air.
Fiery caption: FREEDOM.
PANEL 3: The twig is in the center of the circle, ablaze with fire.
Page 9: Full page splash.
This page is the birth of Rartog, one of Infinitus' evil minions. The shot is with flames shooing up from the ground from the symbol with Rartog in the center of the plume of flame. Behind the flames and Rartog, Infinitus' dark form looms standing very tall. Rartog is contorted with one hand in the air, his head tilted back and looking skyward. A huge bellow erupts from his mouth. Rartog is covered in huge spikes. His mouth is huge with tons of teeth of different sizes. Each finger and toe is a claw spike (5 fingers on each hand, 4 toes on each foot). Keep in mind that Rartog runs on all fours, so this is more like a shot of him leaning back like a horse when it's spooked. Rartog has evil, red glowing eyes and is about 6 feet tall when he's not leaning back (i.e. 6 feet from the ground to his back when he's on all fours). This shot also sets up the fact that Infinitus is H-U-G-E!
Infinitus: (with one hand raised in the air, as if conjuring Rartog to rise from the ground) ARISE, MINION! SERVE ME!
Page 10: Two panels. Panel 1 is an inset to Panel 2.
PANEL 1: Point of view is from behind Infinitus' right sholder. He's pointing to the wall. Rartog turns his head from Infinitus to the wall that Infinitus is pointing at.
Infinitus: FIND THE SEER! GO!!
Rartog: YESSSSS.... MASSSSTER...
PANEL 2: Old mansion looks small in the background, but a large hole is now smoking where Rartog burst through the wall into the night. Draw lines to make it look like he jumped from the hole and landed close to the front of the frame. Rartog can leap great distances. Shot is a distorted view with Rartog's head very large and coming at the reader. Lots of snarling and spit coming out of his mouth. Huge clods of dirt get ripped up and are sent flying into the air as he's running.
Fiery caption: I WILL DESTROY THIS REALITY AND BE FREE!
Page 11: Panels 1 and 2 are both full horizontal panels. Panels 3 - 5 are split to complete the bottom of the page.
PANEL 1: Outside shot of the shool. Lots of balloons and decorations. A few couples milling around on the outside of the school.
Caption 1: JENKINS HIGH SCHOOL, 8:48 PM
PANEL 2: Another long panel of a row of lockers with a space close to the right hand side of the panel for a door. Beside the door is a poster with a lightning bolt starting at the top with the words "ART (next line) HAS THE POWER (in BIG letters) TO TAKE YOU PLACES! (in small letters)" On the other side of the door (or in front of it) are two people facing eachother, very close. It looks like they are talking quietly. These are kid versions of Emiliano and Enza (Note: Check to make sure it's ok to do this -- wouldn't want to make the most powerful artists in the universe mad!!!) Justin and Antonio are walking together through the hallways, talking.
Justin: DID YOU SEE JULIE WITH BRETT? I THOUGHT HE WAS COOLER THAN THAT..
Antonio: (laughing) HE WAS JUST A LOSER IN HIDING, BRO. IT WAS JUST A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE HIS TRUE COLORS CAME OUT!!
PANEL 3: Justin and Antonio are in the gym now (where the actual dance is beign held). They are now at a table grabbing drinks.
Justin: HEY, I HAVEN'T SEEN STEPHANIE ALL NIGHT. I THOUGHT YOU TWO WERE..
PANEL 4: Shot from the waist up of Justin and Antonio. Justin is elbowing Antonio and winking.
Justin: ..Y'KNOW..
PANEL 5: Antonio is pushing Justin. Justin's drink flies off panel to his left.
Antonio: CUT IT OUT!
