Instead of posting 22 pages of script I've decided to post the script for the second chapter in stages. Hopefully this will encourage more responses...please?

PAGE ONE (six panels)

Panel 1: Aerial shot of Jesse as he lays face down dead in a shallow part of the stream.

Panel 2: Extreme close up of a coyote’s eyes.

Panel 3: Medium shot from a slightly elevated angle of Andy on his back with his throat ripped out. His face is contorted reflecting a quick and horrifying death.

Panel 4: Extreme close up of a coyote’s bared teeth.

Panel 5: Ground level shot of Jim lying in a pool of his own blood. His head rests to one side and leans on his left arm, which extends out in front of him. His fingertips are bloody and a couple of his fingernails are broken up and back. Marks can be seen in the dirt from where Jim clawed desperately for his life.

Panel 6: Large panel. From behind the pack of approaching coyotes a battered and beaten Little Plume presses his body up against a tree.

PAGE TWO (four panels)

Panel 1: Straight long shot of the coyotes. They approach menacingly. Two turn and snap at one another.

Panel 2: Straight medium shot of Little Plume. He motions outward with his arms and hands trying to shoo off the approaching coyotes.

1 LITTLE PLUME: GO ON, YOU’VE HAD YOUR FILL OF BLOOD FOR THE DAY!

Panel 3: Similar to Panel 1, but tighter in on the coyotes as they move in even closer.

Panel 4: Straight long shot of Little Plume. He looks up and around looking for some way out of his current situation. Behind and over his left shoulder a silhouetted coyote head can be seen rising up over the brush.

2 LITTLE PLUME: TOO HIGH TO CLIMB…

PAGE THREE (seven panels)

Panel 1: Similar to Panel 4 of the previous page. Little Plume now looks down at the ground to his right. A silhouetted figure now stands behind Little Plume. It appears as a tall thin man with the head of a coyote.

1 LITTLE PLUME: CAN’T JUST SIT HERE …

Panel 2: Close up of Little Plume’s hand grabbing a stone from the ground.

2 LITTLE PLUME: …I’VE GOT TO TRY…

Panel 3: Medium shot of Little Plume hurling the rock with all his might.

3 LITTLE PLUME: …SOMETHING!

Panel 4: The coyotes turn and scatter, running off in every direction. The rock Little Plume threw skips across the ground without finding its mark.

Panel 5: Close up of Little Plume. He cocks his head to one side with a puzzled look on his face.

4 LITTLE PLUME: HUH?

Panel 6: Slightly elevated close up from behind Little Plume. He turns and looks behind him from around the tree.

5 LITTLE PLUME: YOU!

Panel 7: Dramatic up shot of WALKS IN SADOWS. He stands looking down on Little Plume. He wears a headpiece made from a coyote’s head and pelt. His clothes are ragged and a bandage wraps around his forehead covering his right eye.

6 WALKS IN SHADOWS: I HAVE BEEN EXPECTING YOU.

PAGE FOUR (six panels)

Panel 1: Large panel. It is early morning at Fort Abraham Lincoln. The troops prepare to move out. Soldiers load wagons and carry supplies. Three men on horseback oversee the final preparations. The three men are: Lt. Colonel George Custer, 2nd Lieutenant THOMAS CUSTER, and BOSTON CUSTER (see attached images for reference). George (center) and Thomas (George’s right) are in uniform. Boston (George’s left) is dressed in a deerskin coat and civilian clothes.

1 BOSTON: …I’M SERIOUS, HAVE YOU SEEN HER?

Panel 2: Tight close up of Boston. He has a somewhat disgusted look on his face.

2 BOSTON: SHE HAS GOT TO BE THE UGLIEST WOMAN I HAVE EVER LAID EYES ON. WHAT IN THE WORLD WAS NOONAN THINKING WHEN HE MARRIED HER?

Panel 3: Medium two shot of Thomas and George. Both men look at Boston amusedly.

3 THOMAS: WELL BOSTON, WE DON’T SPEND AS MUCH TIME FRATERNIZING WITH THE POST LAUNDRESSES AS YOU DO…

Panel 4: Over the shoulder of Thomas speaking to George and Boston. Boston leans forward in the saddle casually folding his arms over the neck of his horse. He looks at George with a smile and a raised eyebrow. George sits up straight and grins while
listening to Thomas speak.

4 THOMAS: BUT WE ARE STATIONED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE WILDERNESS. AND I’M SURE THE THOUGHT OF THE EMBRACE FROM A LOVING WOMAN, REGARDLESS OF HER APPEARANCE, WOULD KEEP A MAN WARM DURING MANY A COLD NIGHT ON PATROL. WOULDN’T YOU AGREE, GEORGE?

5 GEORGE: INDEED, THOMAS. AND SINCE CORPORAL NOONAN ISN’T HERE TO DEFEND HIMSELF, ALLOW ME TO SAY THIS ABOUT THE DARLING MRS. NASH…

Panel 5: Close up on a smirking George.

6 GEORGE: WHILE SHE MAY NOT STARCH CERTAIN PARTS OF MY ANATOMY, SHE DOES QUITE WELL WITH MY SHIRTS.

Panel 6: Medium three shot of the brothers laughing.

7 SFX: HA! HA! HA! HA! HA!

8 LIBBY (OP): WHAT A SURPRISE TO FIND THE CUSTER BROTHERS GATHERED TOGETHER AND LAUGHING IT UP.

PAGE FIVE (six panels)

Panel 1: Long shot of Libby Custer. She stands with her hands on her hips feigning disapproval.

1 LIBBY: I DECIDED TO COME SEE YOU BOYS OFF. WHAT’S SO FUNNY?

Panel 2: Tight medium three shot of the Custer brothers. Thomas looks up and away trying to look innocent. Boston wipes a tear from his eye while trying to stifle his laughter. George looks down lovingly at his wife.

2 GEORGE: OH NOTHING, DEAR. THE COLUMN’S GETTING READY TO MOVE OUT. YOU TWO SHOULD GET ALONG.

3 BOSTON: HEH, HEH. AHEM. RIGHT.

Panel 3: Over the shoulder of Libby, Thomas and Boston ride off to join the column. They turn back to say goodbye to her. She waves to them as the go.

4 THOMAS: SO LONG, LIBBY.

5 BOSTON: SEE YOU SOON.

6 LIBBY: TAKE CARE BOYS. AND REMEMBER TO LOOK AFTER YOUR NEPHEW AUTIE.

Panel 4: George leans over from in the saddle and kisses Libby.

7 GEORGE: I’M GLAD YOU CAME OUT.

8 LIBBY: DON’T I ALWAYS?

Panel 5: High angle close up of Libby. She looks up at her husband with a mixture of sadness and pride.

8 LIBBY: AND YOU PROMISE TO WRITE?

Panel 6: Low angle close up of George.

9 GEORGE: DON’T I ALWAYS?

PAGE SIX (two panels)

Panel 1: Splash page. Libby stands waving a handkerchief in the foreground. The large column of troops and wagons head off towards the horizon. Large cumulous clouds sit on the horizon. The shape of the clouds should have subtle skull shape to it. It being just after dawn, the sky’s color is a red-orange with rays of golden light streaking from around the clouds.

Panel 2: Small panel embedded in the large one. Close up of Libby. Her eyes are moist and she wears a look of disbelief.

1 LIBBY: IT LOOKS AS IF THEY ARE RIDING INTO THE GATES OF HEAVEN ITSELF…

Trivia note for all who have read this far...while I was compiling research for this story I came across the mention of one Corporal John Noonan. While he was a member of Custer's 7th Cavalry he was stationed elsewhere during the events taking place in the story. Anyhow, Noonan was married to a post laundress named Mrs. Nash. She was married once before to a soldier who went AWOL and was never heard from again just days before being discharged. A year or two after the Battle of Little Bighorn Mrs. Nash died. As the other laundresses prepared her body for burial they made a startling discovery...Mrs. Nash was actually Mr. Nash...she's a man, man! Word spread quickly and a shamed and depressed Corporal Noonan took his own life. I thought it was pretty funny/sad so I just had to make a reference to it in the story...even though it will probably go over everyones head.

It was a fun read!

historical comic hun?

Could be cool!

I see what you mean about the lack of response on the forum to new scripts and stories. I posted my first attempt at a script and the story I wrote up as a possible backbone for the script but no one reads them and if they do they never give crits.

Seriously you do have a cool concept, not something I would choose for myself but to each their own!

Maybe you could check my script on the thread called something new for the firing squad part 2! and the rough draft of the story on Something new for the firing squad.

see ya!
