Got a spam in my "spam collecting yahoo" mailbox, but it looked interesting so I checked it out. Still reading. Anyone had experiences with this?

i looked it over but I can't tell you how good of a deal it really is. From what I have read from various authors in the sci-fi field (which I've been trying to break into for years now) is that if your story is good enough to sell an editor will purchase it. If it isn't then you can self-publish, but don't expect much of a return. I know its a little different in comics, but its the opposite...even good stuff won't neccesarily sell!

If its what you really want to do I'd say go for it, but don't expect to retire off of it...or even to make back what you invest.

I spent about $50 making 100 of my books, that includes buying the boards. I didn't even make THAT back.

That's pretty expensive. I still say that DreamWeaver Press (http://www.egoworks.com/dreamweaverpress/printing.html) might have the best deal out there for getting a book with a color cover in a small print run.. even though I haven't gotten to use them yet.

I published my first novel through XLibris--if you know what you're getting into, they work just fine. If you want to do all the legwork with promotion, distribution, etc., they do a fine job. Not sure how their promotion/press release services work, though. Drop me a line if you have more specific questions...jbusbeemail@comcast.net. Good luck!
