Generally, I will simply color the moon an off-white, a pale yellow, or a pale blue. To me, the moon mostly appears just slightly yellow, near white. However, an editor some years back (when I was still doing just color guides) was startled when I colored the moon in a particular comic pale yellow, saying "I was wondering what the sun was doing out at night," and had it changed to pale blue. Recognizing that many feel the same way, I now tend to tint the moon slightly blue. On a recent Usagi cover, #72 -- not due on stands for a couple months yet -- I located a picture of the moon, and applied it in multiply mode, at a low opacity over the base color of the moon. I also featherd the moon shape heavily, and filled a couple more times so that a glow surrounds the moon.
