scanners?

does anyone know of any scanners that have a larger than normal bed, but don't cost an arm and a leg? epson has one that's like 12 x 17, but it costs almost 3,000. i'm mostly gonna be scanning black and white images so the resolution doesn't need to be the best there is.

OK, we really need to put one definitive thread on this up top, and stick it there. This is a common question.
Search on eBay. I got a Mustek ScanExpress A3 USB for about $200 including $15 shipping (came from the manufacturer on backorder in China, by way of the seller in Canada).
