And I don't mean creating it. I mean like when the penciler draws huge smoke clouds, and you color it in. What are good ways to this?

keep in mind the kinda smoke the drawer drawed .

Delete the smoke lineart , then do the smoke ....

I don't think thier are any easy answers for this question but you could experiment with these suggestions. One take the line art and change its color with hue and saturation. 2 you could use a series of grad fills but try using the multiply funtion with each new grad fill. I think the best advice is for you to look at examples in print and try to mimick those effects.

Yeah, I use multiply and the other blending modes like crazy. But I'll try that grad fill. Thanks!
