And some guy not nearly as good as Cory brought in the Manning Award. Jerome Opena, who draws Lone for Dark Horse's Rocket Comics won it. I didn't even know that book had come out yet.

Sweeet.... there's some excellent stuff there.

I love how reading comics and prose all my life has changed the way I "hear" the written word... about half-way I realized I was using a sort of Academy Award announcer's voice in my head...

:D

Anyone notice that a lot of this stuff is Mignola stuff? The guy is amazing! His art of Hellboy book is even better.
Amazing Screw on head....finally yes! Recognize this book's power!!!
The Herobear and the Kid stuff is pretty cool as well...
so what book does Todd Klein letter? I am curious...just so I can pick it up and learn from his talent.

matt

Oh yeah I also noticed that some ppl here were knocking Kevin O'Neill's art in LoEG and look---it got an award!
Congrats to all who won (although I have only associated with Mignola from time to time (he is used to me talking to him at the cons, and my #2 supporter behind Phil Hester))
Although it is not mentioned I would like to say a friend of mine from school was nominated for an Eisner for his Graphic Novel, Stylish Vittles by Tyler Page. He got his masters in comic art at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design.

If memory serves, he letter most/all of Alan Moore's ABC comics, making him America's Best Letterer. Any surprise he won, then?
