Has anyone ever tried the Wacom Cintiq? i drool every time i see pictures of it, but it still costs as much as a down payment for a house. http://www.wacom.com/lcdtablets/index.cfm

The only real advantage i see over a tablet, is theoretically you could rotate the cintiq to get the best drawing angle for more accurate strokes.

I have one. The urgent need for a new monitor coincided with some cash just at the right time so I decided to invest in one. It's marvelous. Being able to draw where you're focused allows for much more control and greatly enhances the ability to sketch on the computer. They've even textured the drawing surface so it doesn't feel like you're drawing on glass.

I haven't had as much time as I'd like to practice with it as I've had piles of work for the past couple of months but here's a copy of what I did on it at the first attempt the evening I got it. The pencils are by Alan Davis but the inks and colours were done straight on the Cintiq. Took about 30-40 minutes. With more practice will come greater control but it wasn't bad for a first go with a new tool.

It's way too expensive to recommend to non pros but I'm very happy with it.
