Just found this board and figured I'd post my stuff to get some more feedback. I'll start with a link to the pages. If people prefer, I can just post the actual images here.

They are pages 2 and 19-22 from the script for JLA issue #81 written by Joe Kelly. Doug Mahnke and Tom Nguyen are friends of mine and give me tips and feedback regularly. Doug gave me this script and had me design the badguys that show at the end. He thought it would be more fun for me to design them rather than use the established designs, for the time being. The actual published issue hit the stands a couple weeks back, penciled by Duncan Rowleau.
Looking forward to your comments.

P.S. Forgot to mention the Hulk commission at the end. There's that, too.

The rendering is beautiful... Unfortunately I have no ideas as to what's going on. Oh... I also think you should talk word bubbles into consideration, because you leave no room for dialog.

I think that was supposed to be part of the challenge for me when Doug gave me this script. Having read the script, numerous times, *I'm* not really sure what's going on most of the time, either. LOL. There's some crazy stuff going on in there with Atom shrinking and growing and shrinking and growing, etc.., etc... from page-to-page and the whole "bad guy black energy thing", a bad guy's whip coming out of nowhere to get Atom around the neck (Atom shrinks again...go figure), Firestorm transmuting the roof to foam and then the chimney to magnesium for light.... yikes.
I finally picked up the real published issue the other day and unfortunately, it doesn't become much clearer with the dialogue in place.
RE: space for word balloons. I agree; it looks a little tight in some spots. However, now that I look, there isn't much dialogue on the four action pages anyhow. I will, however, keep it in mind.
RE: rendering. Thanks. That's one of the areas I never think is good enough in my own work (one of many). Submissions pages always take me about 5 times longer because I'm not really drawing for an inker, I'm drawing for a xerox machine. I have to go over the lines, again and again, in an attempt to get all the important lines the same value, so they show up the same on the photocopies. Many times, in doing so, I lose the initial "grace" and energy that some lines may have. It's maddening.
Thanks for taking the time to comment, Agent. Much appreciated.

Thanks. My biggest gripe with these is that I didn't really take any chances. I didn't really go "over-the-top" anywhere, so to speak, which is something that makes the medium great. For instance, I didn't throw anything zooming right out at the viewer to engage the space more. They turned out decent enough, but a little too "safe" for my tastes. The next batch I'm working on, I'm trying to remedy that. We'll see. Thanks again, for the welcome.

P.S. I hooked up with Doug Mahnke today and he saw that Hulk pin-up and ripped the crap out of it. LOL. I'll post the new version after I finish it.

Okay, here you go. Pages 2 and 22 at 300dpi. I'll only leave them up there for a couple days though. They're too big to leave up there. Right click and "Save As" to your desktop.

Misfit (and anybody else who might've been interested),
I'll be taking these pages down tonight. Let me know if you want the others and I'll put them up on my server.
Hope these were good enough for your purposes.
