Making A Quick Cool Background

Quick cool background in 6 easy steps:

Step one, create a new layer and name it gradient.

Fill the gradient layer with a gradient of any color fading into WHITE.

Double click on the gradient layer and change the blend mode from normal to darken.

Add noise.

Fill the background layer in any color that will compliment the color. Make sure it's a solid fill, and not a gradient.

Slide the opacity of the gradient layer down until satisfied. I like around 40-50 percent.

I hope this helps. I was inspired by the background in Invincible. And by the way, I used Paint Shop Pro to do this.

a quicker, less complicated way is to fill the background one color, and then add your gradient color with the merge value set to "Diffuse."

almost the exact same effect, and in a fraction of the time.
