Hey all, this is for a draw-off at another board. The object was to draw yourself Matrix style with whatever weapons you wanted.
I might re-work the arms, they look a little wierd to me right now.
CnC is greatly appreciated

well if you want to win the draw off in my opinion i would change the pose up. I would try to think more dynamic. (ppl love dynamics) And if you want that pose try a different angle. A straight on view doesnt add anything to the picture. The anatomy does look wrong too. i.e the arms, hands, head, leg on right, blah blah blah.. If you are trying to make yourself like you are from the matrix maybe make that coat your wearing a trench coat and have it drag to the ground. Anyways hope i helped. If i spot more ill talk about em. Peace and gl

the anatomy needs work. your head is too small, the arm muscles are wrong ( you have your right bicep connecting to the outside of your forearm), you need longer femurs and shorter shins, you are missing a chunk from the bottom of your left hand, and your left foot looks dislocated. your knee is pointing in but the foot is pointing out. over all the parts of your person look like stiff parts that are moving independantly of each other with no bearing on each other. you need to think of the figure as a whole. also, you only have folds drawn at the bottom of the shirt. you need them everywhere. if your figure is clothed, you need to show accurate wrinkles to depict the underlying form. this is also a reason why your figure looks disjointed. i knoe i came off as harsh, but i am just trying to give some honestly constructive crits. i hope i helped. ;cap;

Gym_Sox - i was trying to go dynamic but i guess it didn't work. I used a ref pic of Neo from Reloaded, but eh. I was gonna draw on a trench, but the clothes there are actually what i'm wearing to see Revolutions...:p
Vinn - yeah, anatomy isn't my strongpoint. I was trying to do folds on the shirt arms, it's a long sleeved shirt, but i guess it didn't work to well
Thanks to both of you.
More CnC anyone?

How did i know that was coming? :p
Everyone keeps telling me to ditch the lined paper, for prefessional purposes, but i only sketch on lined, i use computer paper for final stuff. I dunno, i just like lines for sketching.
More crits or comments anyone?

id go buy a sketch book bro! i used to draw on lined paper all the time, but i think the sketch book just makes them look more pro, or at least you feel kinda more pro!
as for CnC, id try to add more depth somehow. like using perspective, and some foreshortening. cause he is coming off kinda flat.
as for the anatomy issue, i suggest looking up a post on these boards that has something to do with a great figure drawing bootk called "Figure Drawing for all it's worth" by Andrew Loomis.
someone has the book as a pdf, its huge, but id go download it and print it at kinkos for about 20bucks!!! its a great reference book man!
good luck!
*edit* found a site with the loomis pdf:

well actually you should use computer paper for sketching if anything. And use bristol board for finalizing. You cant ink on that comp paper... not well at least

well, most of my stuff doesn't go past the sketch stage anyway, so it's not really that important. Oh well. If anyone else has any comments please post them.
Thanks to statezero for the link to the anatomy pages

yes, the paper is the most important issue here....
but there is c&c besides that...
the most important is the hair. all the stuff vinnlander said is true too, but the first, and perhaps only, thing I would do is fix the hair line. It looks like giant grass is growing from his head...
I'm only saying this because every other section of the picture is actually ok in my opinion. I like the way you demonstrated the wrinkles in the clothes, the clothing overall looks alright as a matter of fact...and the whole piece has a lot of detail too it...the clothes trim, weapons, face expression and all that stuff is done in good detail.
and your proportions are ok, passable, but I would go with the stuff vinnlander said on that....
but if you just fix the hair line, it'll help a lot...the hairline is too high, he looks a little balding. and since he is not close up, you don't have to draw such a jagged line...
