Marvel Character Sketches

Back again with preliminary layouts for pinups that i am working on simultaneously. I RARELY draw the popular characters (cuz everyoune else does it) But this time around I was pretty inspired. I was watching the old 1960's Spidey and was like...."I think I'll start drawing Marve's big boy's now....I wanna see what I could do with them!" So here I am!! My first two are Ultimate Thor and the Human Torch )I'm no Skottie, but i gave it the RAHeight touch!)

Hope you guys like it..granted..they are just layouts..still thinking of BG's for both of them...hmmm any ideas?

Hmmm . . . I'm not feeling Johnny as Johnny . . .

It's a RAH drawin alright all dynamic and tense. When I look at it i get more Johnni Thunder (The Cei eu one).

The THOR though . . . :eek: as Chuck D would say . . . "thunder slammer swing a hammer like THe Mighty Thor!"

This Thor is sweet. More than that I like the almost uniform line thickness and overall cleanness you show here. Thor looks determined and I daresay I see a hint of Bachalo from Ultimat War in there. The almost complete lack of hatching is a new . . . and bad ass direction for you to go in. I would loVE to see more like this. When I get back to work this is going in the pending project file.

Hey Kev!! Seems like people are split on my Thor..hehe. Some love it..some hate it...I'm gonna put him on hold for a day or two to finish.

I'm gonna do the rest of the Fantastic Four instead.

they are both nice, but why does thor look kinda sadistic? anyhoo since u dont like drawing popular charecters i would love to see u draw bishops's sister shard

Thor's facial features looks a bit rugged - I've only seen Hitch's version, but he draws him with fairer features and "hippie-like" hair. Also, Johnny's face has a bit of a "Martian Manhunter" look - too much brow I think. The posing and anatomy on both characters kicks ass - good stuff Ray.

Yeah, Thor looks like a crazyman-- I mean, I LOVE the take on it, but it doesn't come off as the same Ultimate Thor we see in the Ultimates...
