Tablets, help with the money, not yours, mine.

Ok, I bet you've seen theses before, but please help me.

I don't have much money to spend on a tablet up to $200. Do any of you with really big ones really use it, or would a 4x5 be fine. Also I've looked into Wacom and Aiptek, because I think they are the two leading companies. Here is what I found.

Wacom--Very expensive, but they have lots of extra accessories, like other pens.

Aiptek--Much cheaper. But I doubt the quality.

I found a 4x5 Wacom "Intuos2" for $167 the cheapest Here (http://www.pcnation.com/asp/details.asp?item=507066) , yet I found a 12x9 Aiptek "HyperPen 12000U" for only $119 Here (http://shop.aiptek.com/?page=product&product=HP12U) .

I've heard from some people that the Aiptek tablets are rough and that the pens arn't that comfortable and your hand hurts after a while. Whats your advice. Thanks.

I'd advise you to stick to the Wacom brand, I've heard nothing good about the Aipteks.

4x5 is not such a bad size, espescially for your first tablet. I use a 4x5 at home with no trouble...

Wacom or nothing. 4x5 is okay, but if you're going that small, just save the $$ and get a Graphire. http://www.mwave.com had some good prices on the larger size Intuos' last I checked.

I have a 4x5 Graphire works for me. anything but the mouse.

Thanks. I will probably go with the wacom. The 4x5 Intuos2.

And whats with those "extra pens" like the inking pen, stroke pen designer pen and Airbrush. Are they anything special?

I'd go for the Graphire if you're going to get one small but whichever. As for the pens I wouldn't really say they're anything special about them they do some special things but I wouldn't get any of them myself.

if i were you, i'd stick with the Graphire if you're just getting a 4x5, and save your money until you decide to go up in size.

i'm sure a lot of people use the extra pens that you can get for the Intuos, but i'm not one of them.

Whats the difference between the graphite and the Intuos? I thought they were basicly the same.

Intuos cost more pretty much but have higher sensitivity and levels of pressure. That's about it I think. Just stick with the Graphire and save the money for if you might lose one of your pens as they cost 40 bloody dollars and I've lost 2 of them, I have my ideas about what happened to them though :mad:
