all are really great...


i went with _Spider-Wal. reminds me of mine.. lol... plus.. its like the second only pic you can tell they spent time on it. like for the background, catwalk, elevator and the pipes and tubes. everyone elses is just a plain color with highlights and darks... kinda lame... i like multicolor.

and btw seed.. you got both mine as low res.. -.-

It's close for me between Seed and War and I like each pic for different reasons, which is making it harder for me to decide.

I love the textures in Seed's, but it's a little too mono chrome. A 2nd light source of another color would have added a lot of depth and that's really the only problem I had with yours. Great details!

War's has great lighting and athmosphere, but the hair is really distracting throughout... looks plasticy.

Really tough decision!

HA HA... in the beginning..i BEAT BOTH WAR AND SEED !!!
Though it's not for long it IS fun to see them both bowing for one microsecond and then sweep me off the throne.
Now i bow the next 50 days to you :P i think.

Seeds piece really wowed me, so I'm going with his.

I liked the texture on Calibretto that Seed used, even if a spot or two was slightly distracting in the second panel it was cool to see it done that way. I liked the overall warmth of the colors quite a bit and overall it was the one I liked most.

I liked yours a lot Tisbore! I'm a fan of your colouring. I'm also a fan of Warlockss' and Seed's too. I'd have to say you were right behind them :) You have a cool style!

And so do Warlockss and Seed... Good and bad things about both. I just prefered the atmosphere and colour choices of Seed's best. To me... it felt like there were too many greyer shades in Warlockss. But I dont think it was anybody but me that thoguht that.

I agree with what David said about both picturs, too.

i spent a lot of time looking at both seed's and warlockss' entries, they are both so damn good.

I ended up voting for seed's, because it is the most atmospheric, though warlockss' was smoother and still very impressive.

Wow! Great job everyone. Colouring sequentials is definately where its at, so if you can master this its a good thing. I have been waiting to see what you guys came up with on this colour-off for ages! Would have been cool to see entries from babycakes and Jal also...but anyways...

I voted for Seed for a number of reasons.

I think his colouring style suits the line art best. Its a very clean cut and crisp drawing style, and Seeds colours add to that.

I like that he has created an overall feel for the page too, and also a warm overall mood happening. Although there are many different drawings on the page, they have been treated as a single piece of art.

Great attention to detail with all the textures etc...The only small mistake which I spotted was that you coloured one of calibrettos fingers green in the bottom panel. I'm pretty sure that is supposed to be a finger.

Anyways! Cool stuff! I look forward to future colour offs!

I've had a whole bunch of stuff going on for the past few weeks so I didn't get to finish mine.
All the entries look great but I ended up going with Seed's version. But everyone did a great job on a difficult page.

I voted for Warlock since his colors were the easiest to read and stayed pretty true to the characters, given the environment. Plus, they were rendered and filled out better than most. The only drawback is Gully's hair. It changes shade throughout the page and the sketchiness of it is not as professional as the rest of his rendering.

Almost voted for Seed, but red overpowers the characters. It's a great page, but it doesn't read as immediately as Warlocks. The rendering on it is insane.

after Spider-Wal my second vote would have been for warlockss.. seed would have been down in the list. i dont like the textures.. and her eyes look like shes an alien and the background... all one color.. no depth.

warlockss did the same thing but his highlights, makes it better and hes really good at the glow effects. which i wanna learn.. o,o... take me under your 'wing' warlockss. i wanna create kick a$$ fog like you do... :D

Okay, I voted for seed. However, it was a VERY close call between seed and XAO.

XAO's was by far the easiest to read of all the entries and does a fair job of defining form. The Pencils are terribly complex and although Warlockss technique is very nice, his coloring of this piece is too complex to take in at a glance.

Seed won out because I felt like he highlighted the most important parts of the story, namely, the main character. This XAO did not do, althought his was the first coloring job that made me notice the hammering elf/gnome in the top right.

Congrats Seed! Though I think you're texture on the robot ought to be less contrasty. It ALMOST distracts too much.

XAO, I think more work on technique, like having some edges between shadow and light be hard edges, would greatly improve on the work. It's like if you added one more layer of colors over this, it would really zing. I also think that the hues you picked were a bit old school (highly saturated). But, like I said before, in my mind your piece is #2.

Seed, great job on the atmosphere in panel 2. It Rules!

I went with Seed because out of all of them he took the least obvious approach and made it work. Plus I really liked his technique. 'Locks would have been my 2nd choice because his has a lot of atmosphere.

My eyes melted, Warlocks was cool, but SEED's was off the chain...for real.

SeeD's got my vote, but again it was a close call between warlocks and SeeD. The only thing that bothered my eye about Warlocks' was what he did wiht Gully's hair. Visually it didn't appeal to me, in fact it was an eyesore. But everything else was great.
