I'm new to this board, I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this message.
I'm planning to make a fan comic of the story "The War of the Worlds" by H.G. Wells.
I was wondering if anyone is interested in working together with me on this. I need someone to write a script for me to follow when I draw. I'm just doing this for fun, not for money.
The script needs to discribe each panel and dialog. if anyone is interested you can email me: boba114@hotmail.com , and I'll sent you some samples of my drawings and my style.
The comic doesn't excactly have to follow the excact story line as the book. I was thinking about the setting like in the musical by Jeff Wayne, that kind of a direction. English isn't my first language, I hope that isn't a problem. Anyone interested?

Euh........not exactly, it's a fan comic.....I'm not sure if I need any rights for it. I've seen lots of online comics based on universes or stories of others.

welcome to PJ and thewriters desk fenix!!!!!! :)
English not being the first language isnt a prob.
I hvnt read the book either although I kinda know the gist of it. The rights is one issue but how long do u expect the comic to be? The book is quite a hefty tome I believe. Will you choose a particular section that you like? Or do you want to use the same characters but in a diffr scenario or play wt the themes of the book?
Wld love to see samples of your work, but perhaps you cld post it on a website or check out some of the artists section of PJ. Easier than mailing over!
Perhaps to help the writer you cld summarise what you want to do wt this comic, fan fiction or not. That way you cld find someone of like mind.
Think abt it and let us know, always happy to help or answer any Qs you may hv or at least point you in the right direction hopefully.

Thnx Banshee, I did not want to make it large, I was thinking of 30 pages?
I wanted to tell the story a bit like it was done with the musical of The war of the Worlds by Jeff Wayne. I haven't read the book either but I just wanted to use the main events from the story. For example, the meteor crashing on earth, the people checking out the valley. The hammering from the cilinder. The matrians coming out of the cilinder and attacking the people with their fighting machines, and all this till the destruction of the matrians. The entire story follows the journalist journey for survival. He meets people and escapes from the matrians and sees all kinds of things happen around him.
But I think I can write the script by my self too, but if anyone wishes to help, be my guest!
As for my samples, here are a few:

The book was first published in 1898 and should be in public domain. An online version may be found at http://www.fourmilab.ch/etexts/www/warworlds/warw.html
I'm not familiar with the musical. But, it sounds recent. Stick to adapting the original book directly, and forget the musical. Even if you're doing this just for fun, it could turn out so well that you would want to submit it for publication somewhere. You don't want Jeff Wayne's lawyers writing you a letter.

Why not stick to a 22 pager for a start? Like a first issue sorta thing.
Well, make a start on the script, post it here and we will help where we can :)
HIIIIIIIIIIII also to Mark, welcome to PJ and thewritersdesk! in case I didnt say helloo somewhere else...

War of the Worlds is one of the first literary archetypes of the 20th century science fiction.
