View Full Version : Size Reduction

If the final printed page is going to be 5 x 7.5 inches, would making the originals on a standard sized board with a 10x15 area be fine or would finer lines tend to "disappear" in printing due to the amount of size reduction? Would it make more sense to draw the original at 9 x 13.5?

As long as you keep in mind that fine lines will disappear, and not use any lines that fine, you could work on the wall of a skyscraper and reduce it to a postage stamp. Generally people work about 50% larger than printed size though. It is really up to the publisher or the artist to determine the reduction ratio.

Thanks. That's what I thought, but wanted to make sure if it would be fine...just got 11x17 boards...never drawn on anything this large before.
