Hulk vs Spawn - Phil vs Juan Battle (K.O.- Phil Clark)

Well, the deadline has come and it is time for the voting to begin. A lot of mud has been slung between me and Juan in the last week, all in great fun. Now we both put up, and you decide who needs to shut up. So here we go.

Thanks Juan. I felt I had to push myself because I have seen the level of detail you often go to. This is going to be interesting watching the voting. Man, your Hulk is huge. I went with a more 70's Hulk. My classic take on the hulk. Back when he was a mere 7 feet tall.

Classic vs new style. Another dimension to the battle.

mucho respect, to both of yall. But alas, Phil got the vote. I felt that since it was a splash page/pin-up that both characters should be represented face front and recognizable right off the bat. That's it. The drawings are amazing and the different homages to the styles are kisk-a$$.

I like both of them...but I say Phil gets the edge because of his very good figure placement and anatomy.Plus he showed both heros facing the viewer in the battle scene.Congrats to both on producing some sharp art.

What I liked about Johnny Juan Dog's is how he drew spawn from behind and nailed it. Good job on that. ;bat;

I could care less about the whole McFarlane thing, that's a style crit. In terms of actual layout, I think Phil's composition edge's Juan's out. I do wish we could see more of Juan's Spawn than his cape, so he could flex more of his drawing capabilities tho.

Wow a lot of things stand out to me, in Phils I really like the chains, Spawns eyes, Hulks Face, and Hulks Pose, but in Juans I love the spikes and Spawns whole left arm, Hulks hand are awesome cuz they are so huge, and for some odd reason I think you did an awesome job with hulks teeeth. In the end I had to cote for Phil mainly because I can see spawns face it makes it more visualy appealing as a pin up if this were sequential I proly would have went with Juan.

I voted for Phil. I gotta be honest I liked the original sketch better for Juan's. The one where Spawn was off the the right. I just don't like the fact that the characters back is to the camera. I like the art and teh rendering but not the placement of the characters.

1. the hulk vs spawn, what else should one aim for but to draw both characters in Mcfarlane style, he did the hulk, he created spawn. the ideal was good
2.everybody already knows that phil had a better overall composition.
