I'm sorry, I don't mean to point out anybody in particular, and I don't want to be an ass about this. But can anybody please explain why this is not clear?

Thank you for registering, [username goes here]. An email has been dispatched to test@penciljack.com with details on how to activate your account. Click here to return to where you were previously.

You will receive an email in your inbox. You MUST follow the link in that email before you can post on these forums. Until you do that, you will be told that you do not have permission to post.

This is the notice all members receive upon completing the registration form. I thought it was pretty simple - you must follow the instructions sent to you via the e-mail in order to activate your account.

But I get at least two or three e-mails a week - sometimes two or three a day - from people asking - and sometimes violently complaining and cursing - about why they can't post or why they can't edit their profile, etc. In each case, they simply haven't finished the registration process.

Is it really that difficult? Is it not clear? Any comments or suggestions would be nice, because this is really driving me batty.

Well, if you were a GOOD admin, you'd go to their houses and do it for them.

Do we really want someone posting here who can't figure out something as simple as that?

The number of these types of e-mails I get would amaze some of you. It's almost non-stop. I don't remember the last time I went a week without getting one.

I've got some friends who run forum software, and they have some trouble with people clicking the wrong link for their age (they basically register themselves as COPPA users), but none I've asked have gotten anywhere close to this amount of trouble with the basic registration process. It's really surreal.

I don't doubt it at all, that's crazy though.

i can't wait till the day you can send a near-lethal jolt of electricity through to someone via e-mail... maybe that'll help.

Sorry, can't do that, Devin. That's a violation of one's relative expectation of privacy.

The funny thing is some of 'em wouldn't be allowed in this forum anyway, because of the ..... extreme language.

Too bad Darwin's theories don't hold true in quasi-socialistic countries.
