If you want to test whether something links without starting a thread search for an old post of yours not on the first or second page and edit it. Or you could start a new thread then preview it without submitting it, that's what I always do. It makes you look like you have known these tricks all along without anyone knowing the truth.

Well, not until you put the suggestion in a thread someone else started to test them
