This is my first time proposing a draw off. I'm looking to have an image created for me. I will pay $300 to the artist with the best image. This image will eventually be silk screened on shirts.

1. The deadline for submissions is December 6th.
2. I reserve the right to not select any of the images if they do not suit my needs. I hope and sincerely believe it will not come to that but I guess I need to cover myself.
3. Once I purchase the image, I own it. You can use it for your portfolio and display it anywhere you like but you can not resell it.
4. I will pay the artist with the best image $300. After the check clears I would like the image in .eps or .ai format
5. I would like only full color submissions. If you don't do color please get an inker to do the color for you and you split the money how you see fit.
6. You can use as many colors as you want.
7. The final image will be on the back of shirts and will be about 13"x 13"
8. You can make multiple submissions through out the contest time frame.
9. Please send all submissions to 69-gear@69-gear.com
10. I will not choose a winner until after the constest deadline.

Below is a description of the image.

This will be a full color beach scene. The focus of the image is a beautiful Hawaiian woman holding a surfboard horizontal (or on an angle) to the ground. She should be wearing a bikini thong. She will be faced away from you with her legs slightly spread but her head will be turned back looking at "you". Therefore you will see her backside, the side of her breast (with suit on of course) and her face with her hair streaming down her back. In the background will be a full surf scene in a sunset. I would like a buff Hawaiian surf guy coming out of the water carrying his surboard at his side.

Again the focus is her. Everything else should look like it is in the background. I would like this image to be as life like as possible. I don't want to waste any ones time so if your art style is too cartoon like please don't submit. This request is with full respect to you as an artist. I just am not looking for something too cartoon like.

Please leave the surface of the surfboards blank. When I choose the winner I have a couple images I would like put on the surfboard.

I am very serious about this. I am good for the money. Some of the other artists that frequent this site will vouch for me.

Thanks in advance for all of your hard work!

Hey everyone, Juan here. I've worked for Thomas (suyt) before and this is a legit offer. He pays good and gives plenty of time for you to do a good job. So if anyone's got the skills for this, I say go for it. Hell, who couldnt use an extra $300.00 (especially with Christmas right around the corner)!

dear suyt,

Are you looking for the artist to do a full color or are will put the color in yourself when you silk screen. How many colors will you be when you are silk screening with so I know how many I can use. Just for composition wise would it be better for the girl to holding the surf board straight up so I can make the surf guy larger in the picture and the the entire image to fit the shirt better?Just some thoughts.

Chad.

Chad,
Thanks for the interest. I will not do the colors myself. I would like you to do the colors for me. Number of colors does not matter. The format that it will be printed in allows for as many colors as necessary so use as many colors as you want.

If you think the image would look better, spatially speaking, with the girl holding the board up and down that is fine.

What do you think is a fair time frame to keep this offer open for?
Thanks again for your interest. I look forward to seeing what you come up with.

Juan,
Thanks for your comments I appreciate it.

I'd be interested in taking a crack at this , whats the deadline on this ? If I may make a suggestion if u are looking for many responses I suggest u make a "drawoff' in the areana set a deadline explain what u want and the pay ( u should also explain u have no obligation to pic any or the drawing sub) but it would probably get u more choices (as in more drawing's to choose from) hope I could help feel free to email me at victorcomicart@Yahoo.com

Victor,
Thanks for the reply and suggestions. What you have suggested is basically what I would like to do.

What type of time frame is reasonable for a contest like this?

Thanks again for your help.

OK,
It sounds like I need to move this thread to the "arena" and post some more guidelines.

I really don't know what kind of time you guys need to do this image. I don't want you to rush through it. Is 3 weeks too long or too short?

Thanks for the replies.:p

3 weeks should be plenty of time to get something done.

Here's the winninng picture. I spent all week on this. And I'm sure you can tell. I'm pretty happy with the result. Where do I collect the $300?

I'm kidding by the way. But I decided to crank out a quick colored thumbnail to hopefully help out anyone struggling with the layout, and perhaps inspire someone to do better. Good luck everyone, and I hope this helps someone!

Motorpsycho was the winner of this draw off. He earned himself $300. I will post the winning image late this week once we make a few changes. Thanks to all who entered!
