View Full Version : Its ROUND 3 of the TOURNAMENT!! - The Quarterfinals!

Theres another day left on the voting, but I can't see that anyone who's winning right now is going to be caught.

I'm therefore posting the Quarterfinal matches and characters.

Each artist will draw 2 characters this time, a male and a female character.
I received a number of suggestions for subject matter and I've included a few of them - but I'm sorry if you didn't get the character you wanted.
If it makes you fell any better, I din't get who I wanted either. :(

Anyway, here's the exciting stuff:-

Spidey vs babycakes will draw:-

You can draw the characters fighting each other, standing together, smashing through a window together, running across rooftops ------ whatever.
Just make them interact in some way.

Rules are the same as always:-

Pencils only
Background optional
etc etc

THE DEADLINE FOR THIS ROUND WILL BE 23:59 on SATURDAY 09 NOVEMBER.

Durham Red?!? I've been itching to draw her for eons! Fantastic! Not sure about the other character tho, time to get into research mode!

Well Im satisfied with these characters. It could have been worse.
Thank God i didnt get any 2000 AD characters, they look like a handful.
Im just happy I made it this far. Quarterfinals woot!

Oddly enough I'm ok with drawing the 2000AD character...Mad Irish kings are great. It's the witch, bolts of probability altering magic? Can she even fight? Not with Slaine's axe embeded in her back I would wager :)

I'm glad you're okay with those characters, Spidey ---- but, to be honest, I kind of miss your whinging (it has become part of the tournament). :D

HMG, I'm the opposite.
I'm looking forward to drawing the Scarlet Witch - but not Slaine. :(

Thats because I havent tried drawing supergirl yet. Once I realise I'm gonna be the first to draw a cross-eyed supergirl with a disproportioned body the whining will undoubtedly commence.

Im truly satified with Havoc though, I like his costume, build , hes fairly simple to draw, everything.

I've PM'd everyone still in the tourney and told them this thread is here - but I haven't had a return PM or comment in the thread from most.

Does that mean people have had enough?

Or are you just really quiet and shy?

Yeah, I'm an introvert.

Well, I like the characters that I got and I've already done several thumbnail sketches. I just have to decide which one to do and start.

Goddamn but this is proving difficult! Not only have I been laid up with flu for the last week and a half, I'm also working on a new style. Add to that, that fact that trying to get both characters in dynamic poses withouot going for my usual, 'let's just pose them and hope for the best' route and my opponent is one kick ass artist... Well, I think I'm safe in saying that my days in this tournie are well and truly numbered, and they don't even reach double digits!

BTW Dean, is the deadline EST or GMT?

I wouldn't worry TOO much, I haven't even started mine yet. Can't seem to get a handle on the Red character, and I haven't done that many multicharacter drawings.

Any info as to the personality of Red? Is she a vicious(sp) feral character, or graceful? Im not sure how to portray her nature in the picture. I have a decent idea of Strider's personality, but the other I aint too clear. Reference shots on the web are a bit pinuppy to gather character.

Mine's in, not 100% happy with it, in fact I'm really glad to see the back of it, but I'm done... Now to go watch the osbournes and have a rest!

CS, I gather that Red's personailty could be described as 'Elektra' meets 'Wolverine'.

Mine's in. I think its a about 28 minutes late but then again your in Europe so the time difference might mean I'm still early. Anyway since I just moved to Georgia and just got back on line a few days ago I didn't have much time to do this so it looks kinda rough, but I still kinda like it.

Even though round three is my best so far I still ain't gonna stop entering these things.

For the most part people get to pick and choose what they draw, often limiting themselves to characters they think they can handle or are already used to drawing. Tournaments remove that choice, you draw what you are told too and although we whine and bitch about the hosts choices, in the long run it does us a better service than churning out those 20 or thirty Spideys, Batmen, Daredevils or Wolverine we would otherwise do.

So put me down for the next one.

Yeah, your right HMG, its just that imma sucha sore loser. But your right, had it not been for these tourneys I wouldnt get any practice drawing the ladies.
