i'm just trying to figure out how much it generally costs to sell. i know all the base fees that they outline in the seller section, but i cant figure out how much of the final sale price they take out.

say if you sold something for $50, can anyone tell me about how much they would charge you for that final sale price?

Your final value fee would roughly be around $2.00 for a fifty dollar sale.

i sold a sketch for 30 and owed ebay $16

I closed my account after that

WHA~!?

When was that? I haven't sold stuff on e-bay since a couple of years ago, but I definitely don't remember it being 50%+ commision for selling stuff on e-bay.

I dont know if I believe that or not. I sell stuff on ebay every single week and I've never been charged $16.00 for a $30.00 sale. The only way this would be possible is if when you listed the item you put it in the featured gallery or highlighted it or something. All that crap costs extra. That or eBay just ****ed up on you. It's happened to me before and you can contest their charges if you think they are wrong.
