I just went to a Randall's (the one on 2222 and MoPac for Austinites) and as I was buying my Heineken, the clerk (a 35 y/o lady with a gold tooth) asks me as I'm pulling out my I.D., "are you old enough?". I'm like "yeah", and she goes "yeah, I thought so, you got that look about you".

WTF?

I'm only 24! My hairline may have receded a little, but it stopped, I have about 25 grey hairs at my temples but I have no wrinkles. I had a long day at work too, but sheesh!

i've only been id-ed like once or twice at the bottle shop...one of the times, i was in line right after these reeeaaallly old people, so i probably looked like i was 12 relative to them ;)

i suppose i look maybe a couple years beyond my true 21, mainly because my hair is super thin :P but i make up for it with my 15 year old looking facial hair ;)

I'm just able to buy cigarettes as of two weeks ago.
Since I don't smoke, the question of my age hasn't come up. Sorry.

i still get ID'd all the time, if it's not some place i go regularly(like the gas station to buy smokes. but i think it's a bit odd for me, considering i have a goatee type thing that's at least 2 inches long. but i am 24, so maybe they're just doing their job, considering i saw a guy who had white hair (literally) get ID'd to buy beer. i don't know maybe people are just more anal here in ohio. yeah, that's gotta be it.

Well, what I mentioned up there is the first instance that I've NOT been ID'd. I usually get carded lots of places, and usually people don't believe me. Maybe it's also cuz I shaved my hair down to about a half inch long...

well, see that's the opposite of me. most people say that i look older than 24, but i still get id'd out the yin yang.

i get id'd more and more the older I get...when I was underage I never got id'd for beer and smokes...but I lived in a tiny redneck town...now in austin I get asked more often...but not too regularly...I just turned 22...and have no gray hair...sorry.

everyone i work with thought i was older than i am. i'm only 22 and they all thought i was alot older. maybe it's cuz i'm doin' adult things like getting married.

I'm 25, but people don't believe me. I had to grow shabby facial hair so they'd think i was over 18.

Its funny ever sence I shaved my mustache off I get carded all the time unless its at a place where I by smokes alot. When ever I go someplace I normaly dont go I get carded, especialy at bars. When I had my mustache I never got carded, one time I got some smokes at short stop and the guy at the counter knew me so he didnt card me and some guy in line questioned him about it and the guy thought I was 16! I am 22 :).

I wonder if many smokers ever think to themselves 'im addicted to drugs". You guys should get some of Alex Chiu's "immortality rings".

I'll be 25 in about three months and I always get carded. I'm not going to complain about it at all but sometimes I think the people are just doing their job. Like that whole "If you're under 30 then we have to ID" thing, however how do they know if you're under 30 or over 30? If they know that then they should know if you're 21 or not. If I was over 30 and they carded me I would refuse stating that I am over 30 and do not need to be carded while pointing at their stupid static sticker.

You know, in few months I will be 30... :( Not so happy about that... Anyways, what bother me is that deep inside I feel the very same way as when I was younger... I have a feeling that we get older and older, but some people just can't change deep inside...

I work as a waiter and the rule is ID everyone who doesnt have grey hair. Thats the rule, I'm not saying I follow it. I'm only 19 but I very rarely get carded. I've been told that I look a lot older though.

i get carded for smokes more than beer. i'm 28,usually when i go to a bar i don't get carded, but when i go to buy cigs, i get carded all the time. especially at bigger chain stores. and it seems like the same people card me over and over again.

I get carded and I am 31. Sometimes the clerk appologises and says "sorry, I didn't realize you are older than me!"

Thats a good thing :D

Funny thing is, when I was 20 I didnt get carded

Of course, i dont drink so the very few experiences that I have with buying alcohol are probably skewed in some way.
