caution: these movies are of illegal street racing and might make you grow hair on your chest after watching them.

Cool, but fake as hell. Just look at how the so called 'police' is dressed, and in what car they drive.
The driver is skilled, tho.

I think that Inkthinker was being sarcastic.
And if for no other reason, I hate this movie because it caused every douchebag with a civic and loud exhaust package to think he was some kind of badass. If I see one more skinny white guy wearing a wife-beater driving some neon green (or orange or some other f'ed up color) rice burner I may have a psychotic episode.
Note: A spoiler and a paintjob does not a race car make.

Nitemare- the post is titled "ONE of the reasons....", meaning there are many, but this is one of them. ;)
I guess Inkthinker would kinda know about my feelings twords races of this kind after my ranting and raving about the anime series "Initial D", (great great anime series), but it's just as fun in real life. I have so many clips of japanese racers drifting into a turn and doing illegal street races like it was gran turismo. THAT is real racing! THe driver has to actually be really skilled to pull something off.
Hey, Inkthinker... Do you know where i can find the videos of those japanese biker gangs (forget the word for what they call themselves) where they're rioting in the streets against the cops?

I have no idea where you could find the footage, but the infamous biker gangs of Japan are referred to as "bosuzoku" (I may have misspelled that slightly, I think I'm short an "o" or a "u" somewhere... a bit of Google will get you on track though.)
The bosouzokou (?) may look like a bunch of clowns on their brightly colored, macked-out bikes with flags a-wavin', but apparently they make Hell's Angels look like girlie-pants wearin' sissy-kittens. You do NOT screw with the bosozokou!!
(bosuzouku? bousozokou?? ...dammit!)
My favorite bit of in-car racing footage shows a picture-in-picture, with the main window being over the driver's shoulder, and a smaller window showing that bad-ass, heel-to-toe action on the pedals. Very impressive.
I haven't gotten to see this footage yet, since it's an .asf and I'm on a studio Mac at the moment. When I get home I can check it out, though.

I thought the best bit of idiocy I've seen after the movie's release was when some friends of mine from the animation studio and I were at lunch, We see this really sweet Ford Mustang, tricked out from top to bottom, stickers all over the place. SO we're admiring the package, when suddenly the Japanese guy in our group cracks up laughing, and then two of the other guys start in.
Apparently the guy had this huge kanji on the back of his window, very slick looking... and it meant "Hon", as in the first part of "Honda".
Nonetheless, the film did have some excellent racing scenes and good cinematic SFX. That final stunt was very nice, espescially so after I saw on the DVD that it was a real stunt, not a bit of CG trickery as I had thought.

Yes, appearently these gangs are so bad, that cops are afraid of them, (and why wouldn't they be? they can't carry guns, can they?) I just remember hearing about this through my ADVision sources some years ago, and all this "Getaway in Stockholm" footage reawakened my interest to see it.
That footage you're talking about sounds like something I'd like to see. where'd you get it from, and what is the title? I have this one really cool film of a skyline racing down a mountain trail initial d style. There's the camera over the guy's shoulder, and then a camera from someone following that guy. The whole time, there's another car in front of the main camera as well. 3 cars going insanely fast down a mountain trail.. Intense.+!

I think I got it from Morpheus while you had me on that Initial D kick... I seem to recall that it involves a Skyline racing an Hachi Roku, on a closed mountain track, and the whole thing appears to be related to some Japanese TV show with perky hosts.
I do remember that the Skyline won by a good margin... I guess if you haven't been trucking tofu down the mountain for a few years then your Hachi ROku isn't kicking any Skyline's ass after all...:D

The fake blower on the Charger was a nice touch.
One word why that movie blew. "NAAWS!!!"
It's called nitrous, squeeze, on the bottle, or N. O. S.
Damn hollywood writers.

I dunno, That Hachin Roku was MAD tuned and had a crazy engine in it that was possessed by devils who were only pleased when in battle. How far into that series did you get , btw?
I unfortunately had to delete all of mine because my hd was full and i didn't have my cd burner yet, but I'm wanting to get them again.
