I’m lucky. In 5 years of internet use none of my computers have ever been infected by a virus.

So either I am very cautious, or I have no friends to email me :(

Same here, I've never had a virus but I'm always very careful about opening e-mail.

Shit, I have this e-mail and i have no idea who its from unless its someone here:

"Bleeds109@aol.com" subject: Website.

Im questioning whether i should open it or not, most likely not.

If it isnt one of you guys then no way..

If you have a question about it, just delete it. If it's anything important from friends or family, they'd probably call you.

yo dev, norton antivirus my friend. I got the exact same email, but it caught it before my server dumped it in my inbox. that thing's been a lifesaver. I have it set to scan both incoming and outgoing mail, so that way i don't accidentally send a virus out in case I get one from another source. When the klez virus was running rampant, I never got it on my pc. just take a few precautions and you'll be okay.

oh, and make sure you update the virus definitions frequently... i have it set to check every 48 hours

Ive been hit, twice! Only solution I found was to format my pc.
But the first time I got it from a file I downloaded (a skin model for counter-strike). Thats why Im extra careful now.

Whew!! That's a nasty one...

I tend to automatically delete anything that I don't recognize anyways, since Hotmail screwed me with that "updating profile" crap that automatically checked the "please tell everyone that I would like you to sell them my information" box... now I get about a half-dozen bits of crap every few days.

Luckily since both Hotmail and Excite don't automatically preview e-mails (like, say, Windows Messenger does) I have a bit of a wall there.

hey red7ine.
i looked in nav and it said by default nav is set to check for updates every 4 hours (that your computer is on) if you have automatic update active. im not sure if this is dif if you have a dial up conection.
