Living in England, it's really difficult to get to comic shops, and so is difficult to keep up with what's going on. I got me a 'New X-Men' book today, and i have a few questions, cos I havent got a ****ing clue as to whats happening with a few things:
1)Is Beast really gay???????? I heard a rumour on the net, and this issue has a mag in it with a pic of Beast with the caption "I'm as gay as the come" and Emma Frost was telling him not to stir things up.
2)Who/what in the hell is beak?
3) Are Beak and that girl with the butterfly wings permanent members characters in the book?
That's it for now, I'm sure I'll get even more confused every issue I buy.

I haven't been keeping up the past few months, but as far as I know:

1) Beast for some reason made up the issue of him being gay. He first mentioned it to ex-girlfriend Trish Tilby, apparently to keep her away from him. Being surrounded by reporters at the time, no wonder this "leaked out".

2/3)Beak and Angel are among many new students at Xaviers' School. Beak seems to be half ostrich, and Angel has characteristics of a fly. Neither are X-Men right now.

Grant Morrison said that the whole "Beast is Gay?" thing was just a joke he threw in.

Is this in 'Uncanny' X-Men or 'New' X-Men??

They don't seem to be related in any way.
They're like 'alternate' realities of one another aren't they?

Anyway, I stopped buying them because they were both rubbish.

I stopped buying them too. I actually keep my pre-Casey Uncanny's separated from my post-Casey's, and same with my pre-Morrison X-Men.

Some people want to say that the writing is top-notch now, but I buy comics for more than just the story. In their heyday, the top tier mutant titles had the best artists working on them. Now, they throw any schlub on art duties.

For me, I threw my hands up and gave up when I first saw Igor Kordey's "work" on New X-Men. And then I gave up completely when I saw Uncanny #400. Every other landmark UXM issue had significance artistically. They crapped all over this one.

I haven't read an X-title in over 8 months.

1.) no, Emma tapped into his mind and told him he himself knew he wasn't gay.

2.) Another one of the extreme mutants that are at the school. The school has taken in now more of the "disfiguredd/hiddeous" mutants.

3.) The girls name is Angel and so far they are part of the team, I guess unless they pulla Maggot and just disappear.

This opinion is only half correct.

That is all.

Actually, I like Chuck Austen on the book (Uncanny) so far. Ron Garney is so-so to me.

Benito is entirely correct.

That is all.

the only x-book i even keep up w/ is x-staxix (formerly x-force). and the only reason i like it is the fact that it actually has great writing, and allred's art is so completely different than everything else that's out there.

the other x-books i could actually careless about, mostly due to the artists they have on the books.

Yeah, I agree about the art not being so top notch. I used to love the X-Men so much....I really dont know why Marvel are kinda making it suck lately. I bought uncanny the other day..........i was not impressed!! the art ended up being shite (they lured me in with the cool cover with nightcrawler on it!) and the writing was VERY poor, there seemed to be an almost stereotypical number of crashes, pows, blaaaaaaarghs etc.
I'm liking the Chamber miniseries tho, so much so that it is inspiring me to draw the guy (keep an eye out for my pic in the drawing table soon).
I quite enjoyed the NEW X-MEN book too, the sratchy art in it looks quite cool, and i found it to be well written.

I stopped reading X-Men after they killed collosus. That was the biggest mistake in my opinion.

BRING HIM BACK...

I second that.

He is the best X-Man by far.
