BWAHAHAHAHAHA!! That's pretty funny. Actually, this is a smart choice for a subject and I think very challenging for babycakes. I've never seen him do "gruff" before.

Believe me, the character allocations are totally random.

The match ups were determined by your group in the first round - so that was easy, but the character names were just put in a hat and pulled out randomly.

I felt odd when HMG was allocated Swamp Thing, because I immediately realised it would involve a level of detail (perhaps) that he gave the Alien pic. That was not intentional (in fact I was hoping to get Swamp Thing).

Also, the fact that Babycakes has received 2 male characters has been down to pure chance. If you look, there were 4 male options and 4 female. It was a 50/50 draw.

I don't think it requires that much detail unless you want to do it that way. I've always loved Berni Wrightson's art of the swamp thing and it did have a little detail but not extreme. And Berni Wrightson was the creator of Swamp Thing so his version is the original take on that Character. Any way you somebody mentions Swamp Thing I imediately think of Mr Wrightson.

WOW. I had no idea. I won't say this has put me off completely, bitter people can paint a picture worse than it actually is, but I will consider other places such as Atlanta School of arts I think my brother sent me a link to them. Good evening ladies and gentlemen. I have in my hand here, tonight's Top 10 List. Tonight's topic, top 10 reasons round 2 wasn't as good as round one. Here we go number 10...

10) It's very likely my opponent was hit by the Sniper so why put forth the effort?

9) I find the character assigned to me morally objectionable.

8) My chi was out of alignment for 3 weeks.

7) The news that there may be more Harry Potter books gave got me so excited I broke out in hives and couldn't pick up a pencil.

6) I couldn't figure out how to incorporate a North Korean arms treaty theme into my picture.

5) I can't draw chicks without them looking like Hilary Swank.

4) I actually did a picture, but it was archived at Arthur Andersen.

3) Stephen Spielberg is currently using my picture as the basis for his next film, which will be 4 hours.

2) I had a long weekend with a catholic bishop.

And the number one reason round 2 wasn't as good...

1) I ran out of time.

Actually, I like the multiple character thing, but it's more a question of choosing characters that aren't too obscure or overblown. I dunno.. you got a hard job, Beastie.

I think this was handled very well.
There shouldn't be any complaining. if you cant get it done, just say so.
This would be boring if the characters were something everyone always likes doing and you see all the time on these boards.
The challenge of finding these things is part of the fun.

I'm on deadine at work right now. A month and a half of no free time exept to step away from my desk to get something to drink.
Then I go home and work on commisions because they are more important than this competition. But I signed up. This is fun. gets me to do more work.
Because I know i had to get it done I found the time. Took it to work (got yelled at for it) and missed seeing tv shows and things to get it done.
I was the first done this time (dont know if I will make it to next round or not though) and I have time before the next round to finish another draw-off pict for another board.

Beastie my thanks to you for making it interesting. This would have sucked if it were the same characters we always see on this board. But now I am really looking forward to everyones work. The variety that will be there should be great.

I'll agree with that. I think the intention in the first round was to blow your opponent out of the water. In other words, most of us, myself included, "shot their load" in the first round. It happened in the last tournament, too.

I'm kind of pissed that some of the 2nd round got posted early. If you give a deadline of 23:59 October 21st, why PM me early asking me where it is? I got mine in on time, but now I'm dubbed the slacker for not being early. Upset only because it steals a little of the thunder from the remaining round 2 participants.

I'm not proud of my entry at all, getting back to that whole "shot load' thingy. I had something totally different in mind and then friggin' Critical Mass took my concept from me. I had a really great piece with Doom and Silver Surfer, but once I saw some of the sequential FF pages from last weeks CM, I changed my plans because it seemed like I was biting from CM. Or, maybe it was just my own stupidity. Whatever the case, I took the comedic road, which you will see hopefully tomorrow, and it was completely last minute due to my original plans being derailed by my own insecurities. It's really a sad display on my part. Not proud of it at all.

Popninja, I wouldn't have let the CM thing have affected your decision at all, you should have gone with your original idea whatever, unless it turned out a complete peice of cr@p like mine did!

I did it last time as well.
It just allows things to get underway - it gets something up in the arena and gets people interested.
Every poll gets 7 days voting time - whenever they're posted - so nobody gets less time for votes.
Plus the fact that I'm in England and my time is different.
For me, I posted the majority of the polls last night at around 10:00pm.
I then went to bed and the remaining entries arrived in my PM box overnight.
This morning, when I got to work, I posted the remaining polls.
Its as simple as that.

I PM everybody several times during the course of the drawing period to remind them of the deadline. The reason for this is because some people forget. You didn't hand yours in until the last day because you chose not to - other people don't hand them in until the last day because they're totally forgetful.
I would never single anyone out, so I PM everyone. Don't be so touchy.
AND, even though I PM'd about 3 times in the last week - Manostl247 still managed not to turn in a piece for this round.

Unfortunately I did not get the chance to shoot my load last round. I had to do mine on regular 8.5"x11" copier paper without to much sketching or roughs in about an hour and a half to get it in on time. So I shot a load this time though actually I pretty much always shoot my load thats probably why my keyboard is so sticky.

I have selected the characters to be drawn in round 3.

In round 3, each artist will have to draw 2 characters (1 male and 1 female).

I have chosen a male and female character from each of the following headings:-

DC Comics
Marvel Comics
2000 AD
Computer games

They will all be drawn out of a hat -- but I will put the names back in if DC man is drawn with DC woman or 2000AD man with 2000AD woman -- and so on etc and all that.
All the characters will be mixed up.


Does that sound good?
(Too bad if it doesn't --- I won't have anyone moaning.........)
