View Full Version : Bill Jemas seems to be a waste of space
Chris Piers

I hate bad-mouthing everyone but Bill Jemas always seems so goddamn condescending in every interview he does. He seems to have no real knowledge about comics history or respect for the fans or the potential of the medium. I can't argue that Marvel is putting out good comics so if he's in some way responsible for that, I give him credit.
But... have you seen this comic he made, "Marville"? It's free on Marvel's dot comics site. God... just the worst thing imaginable. Full of really unfunny and dated jokes about Ted Turner and AOL. It's just so unfunny. And the thing is it's written as though everything's a setup and a punchline. But trust me. Not funny at all. It's just the absolute worst thing I've probably ever read, I swear to God.
Go ahead and check it out but if you do, prepare to be disappointed. He makes Alan Greenspan jokes. But they're not even funny. It reminds me of the many standup comedians I've seen over the years that point out subjects that are rife with potential to be ridiculed, parodied, insulted or satirized but the joke just ends there. There's no real punchline.
Dude you waste more time than anyone I know looking for bullshit to post on pj when you should really spend your time more wisely and sit your ass in a chair and ****ing be drawing so you can better your craft.

Lugz, if you have nothing to add to a conversation, you can always ignore it and let it fall to the bottom of the forum. Or do you just like to post accusations without any evidence to support it?

SI SI SI SI SI SIMMA DOWN NOW!!!!
Accusations? Dude that was a statement.
Oh wait...
Maybe I shouldnt pick a fight with you cause youll get all your friends to gang up on me like you did with Malin and I'll get banned like he did.
Then again was it very nice of you to call Bill Jemas a waste of space in a public forum in the first place? Maybe you should keep your own opinions to yourself.

Who are all my friends? I never did anything to get Malin banned. And you stated an opinion, not a fact.
Finally, a topic about comics in General Discussion is not out of place. Grow up.

No this isnt about comics, this is about ruining someone's name. You are purposely talking trash about Bill Jemas. Bad form there, very bad form to come to a "public" forum and trash someone's name whether you like them or not. That is your opinion and you should know that something like this should be kept to yourself. This would be like me starting a thread stating, "Chris Piers is a fag, just look at him." Does it hold any credibility? - no. Should it be posted? - no. So I think you are the one who needs to grow up and show a little respect for other people in the comics community.

tell that to the bazillions of members chris has found useful stuff for when they asked for help/reference/etc
i'd consider myself one of chris's friends (though i have no banning capabilities...yet ;dvl; ), but that has nothing to do with my response, i just don't enjoy having people become targets in what *should* be a friendly community
now how about you spend less time attacking members and drawing yourself...sounds good to me, everybody's happy :D
as for jemas: yeah, i find he's always trying (and failing miserably) to be funny in interviews...he just comes off as a stupid jerk :P doubt i'd ever read the book, unless it was given to me, and i read it out of respect for the giver heh

This is still considered slander and Mr. Piers should know better than to post this on a public forum.

Technically, you're accusing me of libel, not slander. And issuing an opinion on a message board is a far cry from inviting open hatred towards the man. I am speaking of specific things such as interviews and the Marville comic book. It's bad. Very bad.
Anyway, this thread has been hijacked at this point. Could a mod please close it?

Not to beat a dead horse but hell why not. When reading and I mean reading not listening or watching, Someone whom you or anyone else seems to dislike, I think An attitude is injected into that persons words. It isn't fair to judge the person as a whole by the printed word. There is no inflection or intonations or attitude or anything in those dead printed words. I could see you knocking the guy if you saw him in a number of visual interviews and judged him an ass but to go by the written word is just unfair. It's hard not to judge some ones's words when that's all you have to go by, but try. Don't allow your dislikes to infuse a non-existant personality into a person's words. That being said I like what this brash young man has done with marvel comics as a whole. I don't read much comics anymore but I feel the company is in descent hands with Jemas and Quesada. Best to let their actions prove their character.;dvl;

i'm sure if anyone else posted this same thread, lugz, you would have left it alone. but because chris posted it, you have problems with it. that's really immature.
it's especially immature bringing up this bullshit...
Maybe I shouldnt pick a fight with you cause youll get all your friends to gang up on me like you did with Malin and I'll get banned like he did.
do you honestly think that's what happened? i really don't think chris has that much pull around here. i'm sure what happened to malin is because he wasn't being very nice, or more specifically fair, to a community member.
which i don't believe you're doing right now either. so you should probably watch it too.
and i don't care if defending chris gets me blacklisted by that little group of chris haters around here, at all. he's my friend, not just a net-buddy, but a true friend, and i don't appreciate personal attacks against him.

I HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH CHRIS, I JUST DONT LIKE THIS THREAD. I'VE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH HIM BEFORE, ASK HIM, I'M SURE HE'LL TELL YA. IT'S THIS THREAD THAT PISSES ME OFF.
it's especially immature bringing up this bullshit...
YOU ARE PROVING MY POINT WITH THE MALIN QUOTE MATT. YOU ARE JUMPING TO HIS AID WHEN SOMEONE HAS A DIFFERING OPINION. LIKE I SAID ITS NOT CHRIS, ITS THIS THREAD.

I THINK THAT HAD ALOT TO DO WITH IT, BUT MAYBE I'M BIASED BECAUSE I AM MALIN'S FRIEND. GO FIGURE...
which i don't believe you're doing right now either. so you should probably watch it too.
WAS THAT A THREAT? SURE SOUNDED LIKE IT TO ME.

LIKE I SAID IM NOT A CHRIS HATER, ACTUALLY I FIND MANY OF HIS POSTS TO BE WELL THOUGHT OUT AND WORTHWHILE. BUT, TO TRASH BILL JEMAS ON HERE IN A PUBLIC FORUM IS JUST WRONG AND YOU KNOW IT.
THIS IS THE LAST IM REPLYING TO THIS THREAD. TO TAKE IT ANY FURTHER WOULD BE POINTLESS AND A WASTE OF TIME TO ANYONE INVOLVED.

Damn. I didn't even want to read any of those posts after y'all ingored Paulfresh.
I for one liked Marville. It was a good parody of all things DC/AOL/Time Warner. I can't wait for #2. And, yeah, I know that this is the one that will get the can after a certain amount of issues because of this: how many times can you say DC are idiots (I guess in Jemas' mind) before it gets really really old?
Plus, Captain Marvel is thoroughly readable and I might just have to pick up all the back issues. Ultimate Adventures is simply a new way for me to enjoy Fegredo's artwork, but the story is blah.

Question for Chris and alla ya'll, Which companies comics do you read and buy more? DC or Marvel(not getting into the Indy stuff) This could be just based on Bias. Could be just that simple. let me tell you, Malin is a very talented guy. Love his linework and his inks but his online personality is and can at times be very abrasive. But unlike other's with very thin skin I like rude abrasive obnoxious people. I guess being one myself I just Identify with them. But I can see were someone as blunt as Malin is could rub people the Wrong way. Not that I care because I like rubbing people the wrong way , but don't go out of my way to do it. I hate typing is why. typings for sissies and girls but until they get ViaVoice to work with these online Chat boards , typing it is. Now Play nice and take a time out you guys. This aint west side story and you guys aren't cool enough to play the two gangs.;dvl;

hahaha...i have no idea what that means...heh.
by the way, it definitly wasn't a threat lugz. i'm sayin' "watch it" because i took the thread as you were attacking chris, and that's the kinda stuff that gets people kicked out around here. i've got no bad blood with you at all dude, i just thought you were picking on my friend. i must have taken what you said as wrong, which i think everyone is doing at this point with the hot tempers.
my number one priority is to my friends, and secondly to the community. i love this community like a friend, and if it gets a little hot and intense around here, i don't like it at all. i'm not lying when i say that'd i'd like to be friends with everyone here. but i tend to take sides when i think one of my friends needs it. we both have our allegences to our friends, and that's completely understandable.
sorrys should go around the whole table here, guys.
*buys drinks for all*
Sorry MC - inside joke, kind of. A couple of wrestlers (the Dudley boys) like to powerbomb people through tables, so when the match gets a bit slow, the crowd starts clapping and chanting WE WANT THE TABLE.
When 2 people are about to fight, I like to chant it.
Lightens the mood.

i don't see anything off-color about Chris expressing his distaste for Jemas' work as a writer and public figure... hell, he even credited the guy for producing results on the market, just and just said he's not winning him over with his writing(s). Lugz, you're entitled to your own opinion toward anyone and everyone on this board, but really there's no sense in tossing civility aside right off the bat.
I'm sure Jemas can defend himself ...and i'm sure Chris can, too.
-T
PS: why can i count Jon's name more times in this thread than i can Jemas, Chris or Lugz' name? what's the point dragging that dude into this? in case ya didn't notice, he's not a member (suuure) and moreover, this has absolutely nothing to do with him.
Also, Chris has already made it clear that this is not even remotely what he was hoping to discuss, and has requested this thread be closed. So it is written, and so it shall be done.
