If these things catch on and are constantly happening, I was wondering if it would be possible to make a subsection in the Arena to handle them. The reason being is that all the regular draw-offs kinda get lost in the shuffle when the tourney gets the the voting stage. A draw off can easily go from first on the list to off the first page within minutes.

thoughts?

I agree that this might be useful.

However, like most things - when people realise how much work is involved in sorting a tournament out - they lose interest.

The tourney I'm shuffling through right now has happened at a reasonable time in the Arena forum.

In saying that, I mean that most of the other Voting Polls have had a high number of votes and hundreds of views.

I have also limited my polls to a 7 day time period so that they disappear quickly.

In a perfect world there could be a subsection - but I know that it might die off shortly after conception.
In an extra perfect world there would be a function for the co-ordinator of the tourney to set up and monitor a tournament ladder - but now I'm just dreaming............... :D

An anchored thread with a tournament ladder which is linked to the individual draw-offs threads would work well. It wouldn’t have to be anything fancy, as there is no html or flash allowed it can’t be, text links I think would work just as well.
It would work better if there was an option in polls to turn off the ‘vote equals post’ facility that brings voted on threads to the top of the arena.

On the related subject of clogging up boards, there has been a lot of dredging up of old draw-offs from like four or five months ago. Can’t some of them be closed I'm sure the participants have lost interest in these already decided battles.

I'm not sure why that would be better?

Yeah, thats a fair point.
The poll generator gives you the option to put a time limit on your poll.
It would be good if that same generator had a limitor of say - a month - so that once threads got too old, they drifted away gracefully instead of being dredged back to the top of the list all the time.
Many of those old threads have entry pictures missing too - because the entrants have moved them from their host etc.

It's really just a matter of my not having time to "prune" the old posts. Arena posts get stale really quick, and I hope to be able to prune them more often in the future. That will keep dead duels from being resurrected.
