If someone posts a pic in the picture gallery forum thingee, should they respond to the responses they get (that aren't direct questions.. I.E> You have really cool art, good stuff> ) or would that just be considered bumping your pic to the top of the ladder?
I don't really respond to comments i get for just this reason. I don't want to bump my art, and feel bad for doing so unless asked a direct question. Does anyone else feel that way, or am I just being overly-analytical on the subject?

Respond to comments whenever you feel moved to do so. Otherwise, you may come off like you don't care what people are saying. Just don't respond by going on the defensive and trying to explain why you did it the way you did instead of the way they are suggesting. That just makes you look insecure.
You is a general term, meaning anyone who posts art. It isn't aimed at you specifically. K?

I respond to show I'm appreciative of the comment(s), but I try to keep it to a minimal.
Good one;onei;

yeah, that's usually how I do it, but then... somewhere along the line, I end up having my drawing sink 2 pages into the PJ abyss and I feel if I were to respond THEN, it would DEFINATELY seem like I was just trying to bump it.

I think we need a "bump-a-buddy" program. You bump my thread i'll bump yours.

There's nothing wrong with bumping your thread. It often happens that people haven't seen your thread on page 1 (and since only a few have a look at page 2...)
However, it is kinda stupid to bump your thread up to 2 or 3 times.

I think if your post is being bumped to the top when you respond than that is just a bonus. If you wan't to explain why you did something the way you did as opposed to the way another suggested than that is alright too, nothing wrong with explaining your art.

True. As long as you really thought about it as you drew it. I once found myself coming up with an explanation after someone made a comment. At that point I started re-evaluating how I respond to critiques.

I copy the text from the thread then paste it into my reply, deleting the messages themselves, but leaving the names so I address everyone who left a comment. I really do appreciate every comment so I want to acknowledge that fact.
Disclaimer: Not saying you don't appreciate them, DM, 'cause you obviously do.

we've been bumping each other for quite awhile, and are always willing to experiment with a third party cantidate. Don't let your shyness keep you from experiencing pure anadultered man-bliss!
