Kevin Nowlan is, indeed, the man. I really have to hunt down his older stuff. . .
It's a shame that all he does is covers nowadays.

I'm not sure I really understand the correlation between the two. Do you see their styles as similar or something?
Nowlan is mos' def' the man. Strangely enough, the first time his work caught my attention was when he inked Quesada on that Azrael mini.
I'm out of the comics loop nowadays, Deforgeo, so I'm assuming that Nowlan is no longer working with ABC.

Actually I see a strong correlation in their styles. I came across Adam Hughes long before I'd seen anything of Kevin Nowlan's. In fact I just recently dicovered Mr.Nowlan.

nowlan inked hughes for a gen13 story...actually, despite their combined coolness, i really didn't like the effect of their two styles together...meh

wow this thread makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside
Adam has alot of Nowlan 'isms'...i think Nowlan was one of the first guys that really went in and applied really dynamic lighting to figures and superclean crisp linework
Nowlan is to comics as Neil Young is to rock n roll

Heh. It's funny that you ask, because I actually discovered him through a link that you posted on someone else's thread, I think it was stiocray. Aside from that index of his images I haven't seen much else. I actually bookmarked the page; Index of /cybelstudios/OtherArt.
Do you know of anywhere else that I can find some of his artwork?
There's a good interview with him in Draw! #4.
The latest stuff I've seen from him are the covers of the DC 1st book (I think they got 3 issues out) and the Jack B. Quick stuff in ABC's Tomorrow Stories.

He's just done a few Superman covers, too. (here (http://www.toonzone.net/comics/solicitations/2002-09/superman/aos608.gif) and here (http://image.milehighcomics.com/firstlook/092502/action795cvr.gif).)
I also remember him having a few pages in the (not so recent) Green Lantern/Superman: Legends of the Green Flame one shot (written by Niel Gaiman.)

Nowlan is the man. I found out about him through the Jack B. Quick stuff, though I'm sure I'd seen his stuff around before. If you're looking for a good introduction to his work, check them out.
He really made Quesada's art shine in the Batman: Sword of Azrael miniseries. Plus, he really did a good job on the Dave Johnson pencils in WildC.A.T.s a few years back. I think the WildC.A.T.s stuff is collected in the Gang War trade.

Unfortunately most people are only familiar with from his inking work...since he has done waay more inking than penciling
I would recommend hitting your comic shop and looking for the old marvel Strange Tales series. Nowlan did covers for nearly the entire series and is some of his best stuff.
If you just randomly look through the boxes at your local comic shop you'll find a plethora of stuff he's done covers from. Especially if your shop has a really great stock of back issues
He inked (i cant remember his name) on a Robin & Superman story in Legends of the DC universe (its kinda hard to find though)
He was working from breakdowns so it pretty much looks like pure Nowlan
He inked Dodson on a Batgirl story also in Legends that was really nice.

The first i recognized him is when i was working at a Tilt (an arcade we'd have in the mall around here), and they were giving away issues of "Batman:black and white" away to people who had enough tickets. Of course, I just swiped one, and was blown away by his art.
I don't know how long ago that book came out, but it was years and years ago. He's been my fave ever since, i think. Well, ONE of them.
Holy crap! We used to have like 3 Tilts in Austin, but they all went out of business. I think that Batman book came out in 96 or 97.. it was when I was peddling porn at a newsstand. I picked up every one of those suckers.
They've got that B&W miniseries collected in softcover (slightly larger than average!) format.

Hehh.
He also had a story in one of DC's 911 specials (also in black and white.) It was easily one of my favorite stories in the book.

KNowlan is the TRUTH.
He did some issues of Doctor strange and also did an issue of New Mutants back in the day, I was hooked immediately.
