I bought battle of the planets 1. and decided to end with issue 1.
Sure the style was faithful to the old anime but I want a style that has more edge, and could not get into the whole battle of the planets story, I'd rather stick to the original gatchaman
I bought thundercats 0 and thundercats 1 and 2. I am going to complete Ed M's run of the series. main reason for buying it is because of Ed M's art.. his art seems to have revitalize energy compared to his last issues in superman. thundercats 0 was a puke fest though campbell's art who I once held in high regard has no appeal to me anymore its so grotesque now. I prefer his old stuff in gen13 and issue 0-3 of dangergirl.

Well, I'm gonna be picking up the Micronauts issues that EJ Su's drawing, but that's probably it.
I missed most of the 80's, so I have no interest in all the "80's nostalgia" books right now.

I tried G.I. Joe but I gave up on it a month ago when it just didn't improve. I was the biggest Transformers fan in the world but I just did not like the art in the new book so I didn't pick it up (looked like nice coloring though).
The rest... I wanted to be good but none of them looked interesting enough for me to pick up. I think that with the exception of putting fan favorite Ed McGuinness on Thundercats, too many of the titles rely on name recognition/nostalgia alone and allow the creative side to flounder.

Man I wish there was a way to pick more than one on a pol like this so just for the record I would have pick Battle of the Planets and Thundercats.
I'd been looking forward to the Botp book for months.. and I really like the way it's being done.. my only complaint is that the story is paced too slow..
I also buy the Thundercats.. don't know why really.. just enjoyed the cartoon and I was really impressed with issue #0 from an art standpoint.. (that's an opinion that will be challenged I bet);)

Nostalgia is the wrong word for it. For those of us that grew up with these characters, I'd say a greater percentage of us would rather have had Transformers and He-Man on the shelf than Spider-Man and X-Men for the last 15 years.
Anyhoo, I'm picking up all the Transformers stuff for the artwork. I'm not terribly impressed by the Armada storyline(comic or animation; the toys are pretty badass), but the art and mechanical designs are downright killer. Same thing for Generation One. The stoyline is just now starting to make progress after 5 issues, but the art keeps me looking inside. The War Within looks the best yet.
I'm also getting TMNT because it's just something I've always done, but it's pretty damn lame. Not as lame as the Image series was, but it's close. There's not even any ninja goodness going on. It's full of super heroes and gay aliens, but no ninjaness.

Oh yeah. As for the rest... GI Joe was pretty horrid, I didn't like Thundercats when I was little, and the artwork on He-Man looks like a hold over from 1993. I never had an opinion on Battle of the Planets one way or the other, but Alex Ross is a prick, so The Cow ain't getting my two bucks.

I bought Battle of the Plentes even thought the BOFP show sucked ass. I really liked Gatchaman and even that G-Force show they had a while ago.
I've been buying the Ninja Turtles too but I didn't see it as and 80s revival since they've always been coming out with different turtle comics. Before this I was buying the Image ersion and the Mirage version. So this didn't seem like a gimmick like the other 80s books.

Transformers, but only because the guy working at the counter spoke so highly of it that you'd have thought he had a hand in creating the book.
I bought and, after three weeks still haven't fully read it.

I ended up getting THundercats. I was never really a big Super Science Ninja Team Gathchaman fan, and just have no desire to pick up the other titles (although the transformers posters ARE really cool.)

Yep.
I bought thundercats and battle of the planets for the art but now I have altoether skipped thundercats while sticking to Battle of the Planets. Thundercats just seems so weak to me in both story and art but Battle of the Planets is staying strong with awesome art and some good character interaction. Just my opinion.

I Got Transformers, That was my big thrill growing up. Pat Lee's OK as long as he avoids drawing people.
And the colors really sold it for me.

I'm just following Transformers G1 and Thundercats... Then after G1 is done, I might get War Within... the art for War Within just looks too awesome to pass up. Go check out the preview book and see for yourselves. As for Thundercats... well, I gotta admit the story is lame. But that was the way it was in the cartoons. What I did like about the cartoons and the recent comics is the artwork. I love how the characters looked back then and I still do now.

By the way, while we're on the subject... did any of you guys know that GI Joe and Ghostbusters were actually revived as cartoons in the late 90's? I think the names of the cartoons were GI Joe Extreme and Extreme Ghostbusters. Apparently, the creators of these shows thought the word "Extreme" was cool. Kinda reminds me of the Simpsons episode where they added a character named "Poochy" to the Itchy and Scratchy show.

I think GI Joe exteme came out much earlier than GBextreme. I might have been the early 90s.
