Damn! missed this one as well. I'm doing like the guy above and posting directly here. Kick it if it's against protocol.

Umm.. thanks.. ;) I'm sure this will annoy a certain PJ poster whose handle starts with "F" but it's another photo reffed drawing. I took a digital photo of my 18 inch Ash figure that I had conveniently laying around.. and drew from the photo so.. that's the extent of my drawing talent.. that's why I ink. ;) I still struggle with that "image from mind to pencil to paper" thing.. workin' on it though.

lemme get this straight , cause i don't understand completely...:
You took a digital picture from a toy named 'Ash' and printed it.
right?
Then what did you do?
-Trace it with inks
or
-copy it (with inks)
Either way, it's not what I had in mind when I said 'any medium' ((like I said in CHALLENGES AND DISCUSSION)).
Oh well.. nevermind I guess..

right.. you know.. Ash.. Army of Darkness.. Bruce Campbell?

I copied it... with pencil... *FREEHAND*
ie: I took a color digital photo of the figure.. uploaded it into photoshop.. grayscaled it.. printed it out. Then I placed the black and white printout.. off to the side.. took out my drawing pad.. and while refering back to the photo.. drew what I saw.. with a little stylization..
then... I inked it.
Either way, it's not what I had in mind when I said 'any medium' ((like I said in CHALLENGES AND DISCUSSION)).
Oh well.. nevermind I guess..
it's a medium I like and enjoy.. other posters seem to like it.. I don't see the problem.

Krosis gets my vote.
After all, Ash is THE man.
:D
I missed it the first time around. What's the deal with these pre-made art draw-offs? Is it just stuff that you guys've had laying around that you think is a great piece and you all enter just totally random (but good) art into a draw-off?

Looking back.... I don't really understand the concept of these pre-made draw-offs. The fun part of draw-offs (for me anyway) is everyone drawing the same subject matter and seeing the different takes. Everything leading up to that is the fun part. The pressure of getting things in before deadline, not knowing what the other participants will come up with.
To me, this is kind of a bastardization of something cool.
Everyone has excellent work here, but in my opinion Pre-made draw offs are lacking in excitement and any real sense of competition. I just don't see the point.

The point is simple.
In fact, two words will suffice to paraphrase it:
Ego Stroking.
