Well, art-community and artconspiracy.com both charge to be members now and I read deviantart.com's membership agreement which grants them the right to use your artwork any way they see fit, including giving it to other websites (which I'm not comfortable with).

So, what's left these days? I have a website which I can use when I have to but I don't want to risk exceeding my alotted bandwidth. Suggestions?

The days of free hosting are gone, fini, exute. Buy space here maybe?
I still use Deviant, cause I'm really not worried about them using anything. I mean, if I post a drawing of Predator, I really doubt if they could do anything with it legaly anyway.
Here's a question, what if you post an image owned or copyrighted or whatever? Like, if you did a cover for Spiderman, it saw print, and you put it in your portfolio there?

I understand, and it's a good argument but I just want to be able to say that my sketches are still my own.

I found this but it's nothing great:

Guess I'll use my website and hope that I don't exceed my bandwidth.

I still use my geocities account since its free and if you just change the jpg to a txt you can still host it on other sites. And if I fill up one account, I just open up another one. Hehe.

you could put the pic on geocities and change the file extension from a .jpg to a .txt and you'll be able to link it. :)

There is renderosity which is really good but you have to link your images.

I knew about all of those. The only big problem with linking is that you will automaticaly get less replies and less votes in a draw-off just because lots off people hate waiting for the new window to open and load.:(

Art-comm charges now? damn. time to get rid of that account...

Go to MSN. Sign up, and join any chat room (like our comixmatrix room. if you want a link, ill give you one... its hard to find.) they give you 3 MB of pic storage, and they take anything. You may not be able to remote link, but it's free, and you can always clean it out when it starts to get full.

cool, huh?

How do I get rid of my art-community account?

Do I have to do it manually or will it delete itself automatically after a while?

I think yahoo gives you a free PHOTO ALBUM too, that you can hold your images in.

sign up with geocities and just use the .txt extension instead of .jpg method devilman and lugz said and use the img tags. it should work
