Sorry if this has already been brought up in another thread, but Far Scape has been canceled. I was just watching cnn headline news and they had the actor who plays john on the show and they were talking about all the internet fans screaming at usa networks to keep it on the air. This pisses me off. I love this show. I thought it was amazingly original for a sci-fi show, and now it's gone. The show has great plot lines and extremely interesting characters. Anybody, else think the same way?
.........I'm on the same page with you. I'm not a huge fanatical fan but I thought the show was awesome and the characters were certainly interesting. Too bad:(

y'see, i think one of the problems that the show had was, if you weren't in it from the beginning, it tends to get a little confusing. I myself don't watch much tv, and have only managed to catch one episode, so I can't really say much in the way of fandom, but this is what my friend was telling me when he relayed the cancellation news to me.

Isn't that what DVD releases are for? That's how I caught up...
It was an OK series, but the ship came close to death far too many times.
I like American sci-fi more than european and even though made in Australia, this definately felt a little too european for me to get in to.

And how many times did they almost blow up the Enterprise?
I really hope they at least finish the season... that last finale was a serious cliffhanger.

hey inkthinker, they will not be doing next season. That's it, shows over. Ben Brower (sp?) said that was the last episode in the 4th season and they will not be moving on to the 5th. I know what you mean about that cliff hanger though, it was awsome. damn shame.
I picked up a few comics on the way home tonight and saw that there was a petition to be signed at the counter titled "Save Far Scape". I didn't sign it because I watched the show once and that was enough.
Big up to Jim Henson studios for the creature puppets and stuff though.

It couldn't have been more hold-your-breath suspensful than the last episode of ALF.

FARSCAPE's demise is a sad testiment to the modern television industry. This was one of the most creative and original shows in the history of television. So let me get this straight...A gem like FARSCAPE gets the ax, yet crap like EARTH FINAL CONFLICT goes on forever?!? THERE IS NO GOD!!!
FARSCAPE's ratings were solid, despite a radical schedule change --a stupid move on behalf of the network. The Sci-Fi channel pointed to high production costs and a slip in the ratings (a very minor slip, btw-- considering the schedule change) as being the main reason for FARSCAPE's termination, the truth of the matter is that Sci-Fi Channel wanted to spend the money on drek like SG-I, The DEAD ZONE (appropriately named), and the high cost of acquiring the rights to air the X-FILES in rerun. FARSCAPE was just in the way. Can't say that though--not good P.R.
With this move, Sci-Fi proves once again that it is forever doomed to be a third rate cable channel. TBS has nothing to fear.

WHAT??? This is the first I've heard of it!! Ah crap, that really sucks! I can't believe they are doing this. You know why? Who freakin watches TV on a Friday night at 9 o'clock?
Damn this is a tragedy. I'm hoping Firefly is decent but I'm really doubting it.

you can't be serious. That show is terrific, and SG-1 is fun to watch. But, these are both shows that aren't "sci-fi origionals" which means they cost way less than a show they're actually putting together themselves.
I'm going to go to scifi.com and see what they say about this farscape cancellation business.

Farscape Fans Protest
Fans of the SCI FI Channel's original series Farscape have organized rapidly to protest the network's decision not to renew the series for a fifth season. In addition to a number of online petitions, fans—some of whom call themselves "Scapers"—have created Web sites devoted to the "Save Farscape" campaign and inundated SCI FI offices with e-mails, faxes and telephone calls. Fans of Farscape star Ben Browder started collecting money to take out a $2,000 ad in Variety, the Hollywood trade paper, in support of the show.
Some fans have taken to sending in boxes of crackers or empty cracker boxes as part of a campaign strategy, with the slogan "Crackers DO Matter," a reference to an episode entitled "Crackers Don't Matter." The strategy is borrowed from that employed by fans of Roswell, who swamped the offices of The WB and, later, UPN with tiny bottles of Tabasco sauce in an effort to get that show renewed. (The ploy had mixed success.) Meanwhile, a planned Sept. 9 protest in front of SCI FI's New York offices has been rescheduled for Sept. 12.
The remaining new episodes of Farscape's fourth season will return, beginning January 2003.

Crackers... heh. Good one.
:D
It's good to know that there are a few more new episodes... I think this sucks as it is, but to leave the whole series when the last episode aired ended with the main character floating in a space suit 20 miles over Earth with no concievable means of salvation is to just piss people off.
