Hi all

I want to get together a list of people who wish to enter into the next Penciljack Arena tournament.

This new tournament will not begin until AFTER Cook.E.Monster and Red7ine have completed the final of the current tournament.

This thread is merely being posted in advance to give everyone a chance to sign up.

I will take arrange this tournament (giving Ronin a rest) and it will be a 'pencils only' tournament.

So, um, if you want IN on this tournament you need to list your name in this thread. I'll start us off...................

No, that wasn't a tourney that was the "Draw each others characters beating the crap out of one another" drawoff.

As I recall in the one you organised on Wizard and CM (WizardWorld#3) it went like.
Round 1 (Trim the Fat) you won against Francastlexxx
Round 2 (Slasher) you lost to Cook E Monster

I lost against Red7ine in Round 3 (Elimination) after winning against Lyzander and Someguy (Chris Piers)

I don’t think I was in a tournament before that.

Hope that wasn’t too painful ;)

You know what would be cool? Is if the winner of the first tournament was, say, the Penciljack Arena Champion and instead of having another tournament, you could have individuals challenge the PAC to a draw off...and to put their title on the line. That way cook e...er, that is to say, the winner of the first tournament doesn't just get thrown to the wayside with another big ass tournament.

You know, like you could decide who would be a top contender to go up against the PAC. That way the title matches would be stellar and not blowouts.

Just an idea.

I'd get in on this, but my scanner died this afternoon. Not like I would have a chance in hell anyway.

Say, I have an Idea(scary huh!)!
Howzabout you divide the tourney into 2 seperate ladders.
I think the advantages outweigh any bad sides to it.

Advantages:

1. I think it will be easier to manage half of the tourney at a time.

2. You can have each ladder post their vote threads in the arena a week before the other.
a. The first ladder of the tourney can post their stuff the first week and the other can post their stuff the next week.
b. This'll keep the arena active with votes instead of the usual vote 1 week then wait 2 weeks the vote and so on.

3. I think this way the final will be more interesting( not that this current final aint).

The disadvantages may be that managing the bi-tourney may take a lil more work altogether, but maybe this way you can have one organizer for each ladder if the workis too overwhelming for just one guy.

Spidey, I'm going to keep this thread open and gathering numbers until Monday - so that the 'weekend visitors' can get in on the action.

This new tournament already has a larger list of entrants than the first one, but I have no concerns about keeping control of things.
I'm not sure about the 'double ladder' idea - and will probably conduct this in the same way as the current one - just to keep it simple for everyone.

I think Ronin will probably get the final of the current tournament underway this weekend, so there won't be any harm in me posting a list of the 1st round matches and characters on Monday morning.

I'll also give a full list of ground rules for the competition.

I've been screwing around with a new style, so if you guys don't mind one more, I'm in.

If it gets that high, I suggest you close this off at 32 entrants. One, it will allow for a more structured ladder and two, you have to think that putting up more than 16 threads for the first round would see some of them disappear off the first page pretty quick.

Why not form groups of 4 (or 3) each round? It'll go much faster and easier that way. just a thought.

Thats why I think the double ladder will work best. This way you can post half of the tournament threads at a time.

Okay, after severe pressure from some very viscious Penciljack members ;) I have been forced to agree that having everyone lumped together in a single ladder will possibly be problematic, for no other reason than it would FILL the Arena with voting polls and wouldn't really give anyone else much of a chance to be seen in there.

So I will sort it out. I will reveal the full game plan and rules on Monday - and it will include information on how the whole thing's going to work.

I'm looking forward to it :D

I suggest having the first round being an elimination round to reduce the size instead of having two separate ladders. The first round could have 4 entries each or have 3 entries each plus one 2 entry. Merely a suggestion.

I can't go to more than 32 people though.

Its would just be too big and the course through the rounds would be affected by the uneven number of matches. 32 people makes for a perfect tournament ladder.
