Beastie...I love your style, I just don't think it translated as well to this subject as it did to the Addams, awesome detail though. Tera, yours got my vote. I love your action and the pencil work is awesome. I wish there was a background established but thats nit picky. Kris, yours was also killer. I loved the bike. I just thought that the two figures wer'nt...beefy enough. Darth...your one of only two that did full color, and I loved the espressions and comedy of yours. The stubby arms and compacted composition was very graffiti like. Solace...yours is just...disturbing...but nice line work and inking. Jel, nice comic book feel to yours but once again, I dont think you beefed Hellboy up enough. He's Ivan Drago, not Stallone. JDB, I like where you were going but for such a dynamic scene, your figures are a little static. NY...last but not least. For me it was you or Tera, I ultimately only went with Tera's because of his figure work. I realy liked your background work and the line work is BA as always.I think the wrapped clothing on Hellboys arm and jacket is a little stiff.
Your next rats ass is sweet. I missed this one but Im gonna try and make the next one.

Thanks for putting up the poll McNiel. Great job again by all the participants. You guys are all awesome and like I stated from the beginning, you learn more from observing multiple takes on the same subject. I'll elaborate later.

These are all quite good. Just a casual run down of my thoughts..

Beastie - cute style, but it feels a tad nakid without your usual fun colors. Also it might just be me, but I almost attached Hellboy's RHoD to Lobo - his flaring jacket looks like an arm right now.

Teratophile - Ya got my vote. Quality all the way.

Kris - Fun piece. I kept coming back to it when thinking of my vote. In the end, it was a personal preference for stylization of HB's physique that steered me away.

DD - Great pose and composition. I think the colors might dull/darken it out too much though.

Solace - I always enjoy your line work- it's the type that I hope to achieve = nice and clean. I suspect though this pose arrangement looked better in your head than how it came out. Already, the jokes are starting to pop up ;)

Jel - Lobo is looking very nicely rendered, but HB seems to need more. Forgive me, but are you done with this/

JDB1987 - Cool entry with nice flow of action. But as with DD, I feel like your colors are kind of dulling it out. Consider more variation in tone next time.

NYP - Awesome scene. This was another that I had to look at few times at. The lines are great, the BG cool, everything is in place... so why did that "phile" beat you out? It took me a min to put my finger on it, but in the end, I realized it was facial emotions. Maybe his extra two panels sunk into me deeper than they should have, but I really felt like he nailed the facial expressions. And I think that's really the only area that he took you out in.

All you guys did a great job. This just shows me this cross over needs to happen!! People would definitely snatch up copies of a 1-shot of these two characters... Great job here for sure. Wish I had time to enter this one. Juggs pretty much sums up my feelings on the matches more or less.

Beastie - Great work as always, the detail is really good, I think had you had time to apply your superb color techniques to this you would be running away with the vote again.

Teratophile - I hate you too...Oh, and go get yer shine box!!! well done, the dynamic energy of the poses and pencilwork is top notch. Well deserved votes for an awesome entry.

Kris - I think it was brilliant to include the Motorcycle, when i saw it i thought to myself "why didn't i think of that". Great start to a re-entry to Pummel.

Darth davis - The colors are great, the drawing is also well done, it came down to yours and tera's pieces for my vote.

Solace - I can see Lobo's foot on Hellboys back so I know that it was not your intention for this to appear as if though lobo was giving hellboy the back door business and that hellboy was apparently not enjoying it. (or maybe he was) Always like your clean lines, just would like to see more variation on the line weights.

Jeloschi - You obviously ran out of time, some background element and more rendering may have taken this to another level.

JDB1897 - I see steady improvement from month to month and you will continue to improve by drawing regularly and pushing yourself out of your comfort zone.

NYP - What a Dickhead!!!

I will definitely work on adding different tones) and Erik(thank you, PJ, you and this brawl has really helped me grow so much, but must continue to grow, improve to get to where I set out to be haha) for the feedback/critique. I will definitely work on the issues addressed and be ready for the next installment hehe. This was fun for my first action colored piece, I see the issues with it, time to back to the drawing board. I really enjoyed the submissions, I can't decide on which one I would vote for yet.

Nah, I saw that too when I was drawing it, but liked the foreshortening on HB (though I screwed the angle on the right arm during the inking) too much to change it. I actually changed Lobo's facial expression from an angry fight face to the "bueno" face at that point, just to have a bit of fun with it. :D

Like I said in the challenge thread, great entries all around. My vote went to Tera, I really like the way he handled Hellboy's head and face. It's hard to translate the character into different styles and still get the little quirks that define his look (traps, barrel torso, jutting jaw) but he really sold it. I usually avoid crits in threads where I'm competing as a general rule, but I'd be happy to give feedback if anyone wants to PM me.

Thanks for continuing to put these together NYP, it was fun.

This is some Great work by all. Draw offs like these made me join this site to begin with. One on one is nice, but seeing so many takes on the same topic is awesome.

Beastie – Dean’s style is so unique...It’s always hard to vote against him in draw offs.

Teratophile – Should I have not had more than one image? I suppose shouldn’t give a rat’s ass. It was going to be a part of a sequential page.

Kris – I wish I had your ability to draw vehicles. I had the bike in mind (and his bulldog), but wouldn’t even attempt that in such a short amount of time.

Darth Davis – This is most complete. Love the lobo.

Solace – Man, when I was sketching out ideas for this what I had was very similar to you. Hellboy was the victor though and it was a slightly different angle. You digitally inked this? Looks great.

Jeloschi – Finish this, MAN. Your piece is how this fight should end!

JDB1897 – The sense of action is great! Keep doing these draw offs man, you’ll see a greatimprovement in your stuff.

Thank you Tera! Posting on this forum has been pushing me, helping me grow and learn. I'm working to build 3 pieces for a pummel weight in along with preparing stuff to aim for a convention table with prints and commissions by May 2013.
I still can't decide which one to vote for.
Tera, the color is awesome! I can really see that in a Comic or Cartoon series! Great Job, I really, really loved your submission/s for this brawl this week.
