Weekly Sketch Group #271 Topics:

1. Kick Ass: LINK (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kick-Ass_%28comics%29) Draw any character from the Mark Millar/John Romita Jr. Comic Series or the movie of the same name! Draw Kick Ass, The Red Mist, Hit Girl, Big Daddy or any other characters from any of the mini-series or movie(s). For Double Secret Bonus Points draw YOURSELF as a superhero in the Kick-Ass Universe!


2. Hollywood B@d@$$e$: The Three Stooges! Who doesn't love some Stooges? (well, besides everybody on the planet with two X chromosomes :D!) Well, that won't stop us Stooge-loving guys from drawing them this week ;)! Draw Larry, Moe, or Curly! And.....If you HAVE to....You can draw Shemp too ;)!

3. Original Character/Concept:

Captain Whizzbang
by Sirandal

Captain Hieronymus Whizzbang is the master and commander of a privateering airship. He plies his trade mainly as a typical adventurer, doing his best to seek further fame, fortune and thrills.

He is stockily built with rather short reddish brown hair. He typically wears a side buttoning uniform style short tunic (green) and navy trousers with gold piping down the legs tucked into black engineering boots. He wears a heavy utility style belt and has reasonable sized cargo pockets on the legs of his trousers.

He typically wears a set of goggles which are (fashionably) asymmetrical. He occasionally is depicted with an additional pair suspended around his neck. He either wears the goggles in place or pushed up on his head.

He has a bandolier which contains vials of bluish "glow juice" a short-duration performance enhancer which Alan be drunk.

Over everything he wears a crimson great coat which has gold accents. Additionally he typically wears brown leather gauntlets and carries a steampunk style sidearm.


And there you have it, my fellow sketch enthusiasts! Sharpen those pencils and start sketching!

Thanks! The Stooges appeared in superhero for in the 1977 cartoon, THE ROBONIC STOOGES. It was silly stuff.

:D Thanks for pointing that out Loston, I would have probably blithely gone on and never noticed it :)! I did this in a Mars Attacks drawing a few weeks back too. Common denominator seems to be not to draw stuff in 10 minutes and put it up on the sketch group :D! Gotta hang up a mirror so I can "test" these poses ahead of time, I guess ;)?

I once did an acrylic painting of the Shadow holding a .45 in his right hand. I kept fiddling with the fingers--repainting them again and again. When I finally was finished with the painting, and very happy with how it looked, I noticed that I'd given him SIX fingers on his gun hand! LOL. One finger in the trigger guard, four fingers around the gun handle, and his thumb. This kind of thing happens, man. It pays to check your work to make sure that the details on the faces and hands are correct before going onto inking. It's just good to get into the habit of doing that.

Thanks to everyone for all the different Whizzbangs! They are all truly inspiring! I am hoping to start a story wi him soon, and some of the different incarnations are particularly helpful. Spidery, I am nearly positive that I may open with a marooned Captain. ;)
