I really have to thank my friend Adrian for suggesting the Addams family as the subject for my next draw off. Sometimes it takes an outside source to come up with a great topic and she nailed this one. The amount of participants (ten) is testament to that. All of these are great and you couldn't go wrong no matter who you vote for. Well done guys and thank you all for participating.
Here we go:

Wow. I would have loved to vote for Brokenhill's if it were finished. And Beastie's style is great. But Drawdan's likenesses and story in there put it over.

I really enjoyed looking through everyone's Addams Family illustrations! Some really good ones here and I had a hard time choosing between Beastie, Drawdan and Ghostcat. Went with Dean's piece in the final analysis, but the others were mighty good, too!

I didn't want to vote as I liked em all and each had a good rendition of the theme, but NYP's won me over with the beautiful woman!

I cannot state enough how proud I am of all the participants of this streetbrawl. IMO Beastie and Sirandal's pieces could be a book cover right now. Everyone put out some great work and displayed skill and energy in their work. I hope you all can get down with the next one featuring Hellboy and Lobo.

I gave this one to Beastie. It would make a great book cover, and the personalities are captured well. NYP I really liked your take on Lurch and Fester.

All of you guys did an awesome job on this, it was a toss up for me but I went with my fave.

It came down to Beastie and Ghostcat for me. But in GC's background there was some awkwardness and flatness that didn't seem intentional. It was taking away something, while I couldn't find a darn thing to gripe about in Beastie's piece. Beastie got my vote, but it was a REALLY tough choice!
Cracked out submissions everyone!

Wow, someone voted for me? I'm genuinely surprised. Must be people who have grudges against all the other competitors. Regardless, thanks!
Tough call between Beastie and ghostcat but I went with ghostcat and the great concept. :)

Don't look at it that way. Going in this was Beasties draw-off to lose. The subject was tailor made for him and his unique style and it shows. That's one of the reasons I chose the topic, I knew he could not resist, the same way that I know Teratophile can't resist Hellboy as a topic, LOL.

If I saw Beastie's at a Barnes and Noble, I'd quickly check to make sure the inside art matched the cover, then i'd buy it.

Right now, its between Ghostcat and Beastie. But I need to take a harder look at all of them before I decide. This was an awesome challenge.

This was a tough one. It came down to Beastie and drawdan. As much as I love Beastie's work, drawdan's grabbed me.
Edit: By the way, I'm pretty sure NYP drew the skimpiest Vampirella costume I've ever seen.

My Favs where Beasties for style and professionalism, Vagabonds for off the wall originality, and NY's for IN YOUR FACE!!! attitude...NY,...thats jsut som crazy *!$# man...Im not sure whats going on in JBD's but im sure theres a story in there some where. Sirandals looks very professional and it is very polished, just a little static. Reggie, I like where you where going, but it looks like you put this together pretty quick and your composition is a little odd. Maroony, yours is very funny. The art theme is creative and your characters show alot of expression...it just doesnt strike me as very "Addams". Ghost, your work is clean and professional as always, I just wasnt down with the concept, The Futurama spin just didnt work for me for an Addams book cover.
Another good turn out for NY's series! Lookin forward to Lobo and Hellboy!

Yeah, I've gotta admit, I completely forgot about the book cover aspect of the contest until after I'd already drawn my piece.

Drawdan: Thanks for taking the time to crit everyone it's cool to put in the time to do that. Ya i was thinking of a cover mock up for a young Morticia story, and didn't really put as much time as i should have to compete with some of the level work here but i'm at a point where working and hitting deadlines helps out in a lot of ways. But thanks again.
Oh yeah I guess i'll return the favor and say something about yours. I think the only thing I really wish I saw in your piece was some greens in Lurch's skin tones. Your piece was a close second in my head but I gave Beastie the vote.

Thats a good suggestion Reggie...thx. Flesh tone was actually one of my concerns with this piece because I was using markers.

Thanks for the time in the critique Dan. After seeing all of ours together for the polls, I know mine was out of place and kind of hard to tell the story if I didn't explain what I was aiming for lol. Basically, I took a dark approach with the Addams family, added a style I'm building on and wanted to tell a dark story in the cover. In the back, you have the butler turned hulk/frankenstein like turned on the family and murdered the uncle and grandma with the family in the front. I know, when an artist has to explain what he drew in a cover piece, he sucks! =/. I will be ready, I hope for the next one.

Yes Dean, you have vanquished an entire crop of foes in the Addams Family draw off (quite frankly you'd better have, I came up with this topic with you in mind), a literal who's who of opponents from the Penciljack roster,....your wonderful contribution to this friendly competition is a piece worthy of our Hall of Fame, and you have proven beyond any shadow of doubt that you sir "REALLY DON'T GIVE A RAT'S ASS!!!"

I would say thank you for your kind words -- but we all know that I don't give enough of a rat's ass to do that either.
