Okay, so I clicked on this and said "This is where Wassy kills Sketchbook..." Then I read Sketchbook's sequentials...
Now, I'm going to have to come back to this and cast my vote because it's no longer clean-cut to me... I loved the comic! o.O

Buh.
No clue how to vote on this. Wassy... you fill me with seething art envy. Sketchbook, your take on St. George and the Dragon is hilarious and poignant all at the same time. Two amazing pieces.

I really like the pages that Sketchbook did this month. Clever and fun to read, but a bit rough around the edges with the color swatches and some half-colored panels.
However PUMMEL is about the artwork, and I feel like Wassy brought the clearly superior illustration in this contest.
Nice job to both!

I enjoyed both artists work, I voted Wassy for her painting goodness.

Wassy killed it. Sketchbook had a good story, and solid sequentials, with some great high points (george surfing on horseback, sighing in the bar) but it's too unfinished and unrefined for me. I'm really dreading going up against wassy though, the lighting in your piece is amazing.

I really like the storytelling in your piece and the varying of the angles, Sketch.
I do have to ask though.... is this digital coloring? And if so, while I understand the color swatches (very much so)... why leave them in if it takes about ten seconds to take them out? If it's not digital, then nevermind me!

Hmmm this battle feels like mine, cartoons(caricatures) vs the traditional illustration. I enjoyed the comic very much, though I was cheering for the monster/Dino to defeat the knight. Sad ending for me. I had to go with Wassy cause I just really love the painterly look even though my cartoonists heart is with yours Sketch.

Apples/oranges. These are so tough to call. Ok, Wassy's painting works, but it doesn't have the impact I've seen in some of your previous work (I know this was a foray into digital for you). I do like your work on the characters, but it's very cool gray and washed out, no warm vs. cool like you usually do. Compositionally, the open spot in the foliage feels like a hole in the painting, kinda draws my eye more than it should. Some character overlap for depth and contrast would've been great there. Sketchbook, although yours is really rough around the edges (uncolored panels, swatches scribbled in the margins), your storytelling really hits home. I was never at a loss, you communicated clearly and entertained me.
In the end, who did their job more successfully? I have to tip my hat to Sketchbook, but man, next time take the extra couple minutes and clean up that work! ;)

Agh! This is the second I've voted on tonight that has two very different, very successful approaches. Good job both of you, I need to think on this!
Photorealistic vs. Cartoony.
I loved both...I'd like to have both hanging in my studio.
Not sure how to vote on this one.....

I swear to God I will totally do for real paint for one of these monthlies. Seriously. I will....
It's amazing how distracting the summer can get and how activities and family things pile up at the speed of light.

Yeah it is....both are excellent works of art, just on the opposite spectrums of things.

I think he means not fair to us because we have to choose between 2 awesome entries... at least that is how I feel. Really great work from both of you.

Sketchbook just impressed me. That's a really long way to go to get to Saint George. And I liked the journey.

No, I think he means that one is a work of art, and the other looks like it came from the Sunday funnies. Not that it doesn't qualify it as a work of art, but up against what Wassy posted, it doesn't really hold up...
...imo.

I always try to hold a piece up to the standard of what it's trying to achieve.
How well did he pin up/sequential page achieve the topic in its given form?
My vote went to Wassy. While I really enjoyed Seth's, there were a few panels that seemed too rough for my liking.
Good bash though, artists.

I voted for Wassy. Sketchbook I think you could work on your character models as they come across a wee bit flat. Maybe consider the structure of your figures a bit more. :)

Voted Wassy but not by much. Sketchbooks work is magazine worthy.
