Got a great idea for a sketch group topic you would like to draw or see your fellow artists draw? Just PM me the details and I'll endeavor to include it in a future installment!
Weekly Sketch Group 261's topics:
1. Stargirl and S.T.R.I.P.E. :Stargirl (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Courtney_Whitmore#Stargirl) Draw either of these two icons of the JSA!
2. Hollywood Badasses: Sylvester Stallone. Bad@$$ in movies like Rocky(II, III, IV), First Blood/Rambo(II,III), Death Race 2000(the original :D), Tango and Cash, Demolition Man, The Expendables and many more.
3. Original Character or Concept:
by Night Robin
Dr. Deadbot
Origin: Years ago, you could ask anyone who Dr. Samuel Simmons was and they would know. A 35-year-old billionaire who was revolutionizing robotics while while wining and dining Sovereign City's most eligible bachelorette's. He was the envy of every man and took great pride in that.
Today, everyone still knows Dr. Samuel Simmons. But for far more terrible reasons.
With money and power came an oversized ego. Dr. Simmons grew less connected to society as he learned new ways to manipulate people. He didn't care who he hurt our what he cost people. His only concern being what he might gain from their loss. The employees of Simmons Robotics lived in constant fear of being fired for either subpar work or simply being on the wrong end of one of Dr. Simmons violent mood swings. Steve Maguire was one such jilted employee. And firing him would prove to be Dr. Simmons' biggest mistake.
For months the news covered nothing but Dr. Simmons disappearance. Frantic searches turned up nothing. Panicked phone calls went unanswered. Simmons Robotics fell into the hands of kinder but less competent men. All while Dr. Simmons lay at the mercy of Steve Maguire.
Steve's firing had left his mind crippled. His brilliance remained, but untamed. He kept Dr. Simmons in a soundproofed basement where he psychotically butchered him by cutting off pieces of his body little by little. First his right leg then his left. Fingertips to knuckles, knuckles the wrist, wrist to elbow and so on and so forth. Dr. Simmons was a shell of his former self. Just as Steve intended.
However, in Steve's need to show Dr. Simmons that he had fired a brilliant employee he displayed his greatest flaw. He outfitted Dr. Simmons with robotic legs and arms using the same lackluster designs that led to his firing. Traumatized as he was, Dr. Simmons still saw his opportunity. Using his new limbs, he viciously murdered Steve and escaped.
Horrified at what had happened to him and the fact that his company had been taken, Dr. Simmons began living in an abandoned warehouse where he used parts he stole from junkyards and landfills to build an army of robots. He uses these robots to terrorize Sovereign City. And he does so as the menacing, sinister Dr. Deadbot!
Appearance: Dr. Deadbot wears a tattered black trench coat with the sleeves torn off. A dark gray armor covers his torso. He wears a dark gray metal helmet. The helmet has a small black electronic visor which can fade away to reveal his haunted eyes. His robotic legs and arms have a crude design and are also dark gray.
And there you have it my fellow drawing diehards! Sharpen those pencils and look sharp!
