PUMMEL has primarily been focused on 1:1 bouts. But, with the inclusion of the occasional tournament, and the determined return of 3-way matches (usually due to No Shows or ranking irregularities), we have matches that don't always fit that hold.

So, to grow and accommodate pummel's expansion, we give you the following rule changes..

Monthly matches are held as usual.
1:1 match challenge - it's a STREET FIGHT (one win, one loss)
1:1:1 - still is a STREET FIGHT (one win, one loss, one loss)
4 ppl - 1:1 and 1:1 =2 STREET FIGHTS
5+ ppl = PUMMEL BRAWL* (one win, no losses recorded)

*In a PUMMEL BRAWL the participants will all be voted on in one poll. The winner will record the win, and will be recorded in a BEST BRAWLER thread for that given topic. Any bout with 5 or more fighters involved will not be counted in the loss column. If one fighter gets more than 50% of the vote in a PUMMEL BRAWL, that will also count as a KO.

*The person issuing the initial challenge can set a limit to the number of fighters allowed.

As before, any pummel fighter can initiate a SF/BRAWL. The due date, topic, and medium can also be up for discussion/agreement with those involved.

Hopefully this will encourage more participation in popular topics... and get people drawing!

Good luck fighters.

And enjoy the BIG BRAWLS!

Question: Does the PUMMEL Brawl count for lower ranked participants moving up in rank? (IE: 1 Middleweight vs 3 LHW and 1 HW opponents. The Middleweight wins the match. He has beaten 3 LHW's, does he move up to the Light Heavyweight division the following month? Does the win against the HW count as moving up in the Heavies in the future, beating 2 more HWs and moving into that division?)

Again: You can't fool me. There is no Sanity Clause.

besides that: I don't get the 4ppl count. Should it read the top two percentages=wins and the lower 2=loss?

Sean, if you beat someone of higher rank in a brawl, it counts as one win in your "trying to jump weight classes" column.

Pep, 4 fighters would simply be divided into two 1:1 SFs.

I love this idea. Hopefully we'll see some of these go up really soon. :D

Jugg: I still don't get it. if someone offers a streetfight open to all up to 4 takers all in all who decides who takes who on? I thought it was a 4-way rumble. What if I want to go up against 3 others?

If it's 4 people, it can easily be divided into two 1:1 SFs. But you're right, maybe there's some wiggle room. If the person setting the challenge says it's a tourney/Brawl style... then perhaps the numbers shouldn't matter.

With some of the recent "coaches corner" matches going up, I thought I'd remind people of this rule change.

Yikes - I see I broke my own rule.

Doh!

What? I thought the whole point of pummel brawl is that more than 2 can compete?

Yeah, perhaps these rules need to be re-examined. I'd like to see a easy push to involve ppl in group matches.

I think Pep pretty well answered this question but in light of our recent bout may be the 4 way fight rule should be amended.

It isn't always possible to know how many people will finally submit work to a brawl. It wouldn't make much sense for the person posting a poll that has suddenly become a 4 way to pair people off as they saw fit and post two street fights on the same topic.

Couldn't 4 ways just be considered the same way a 5+ way brawl is concidered? One win, three non-wins, no losses.

And I am in no way suggesting this just because I non-won the Anatomy street fight.

Yeah, that was going to be my call as well. At one point, we were expecting 6 fighters, but 4 showed up - maybe the 4+ rule should be there

That sounds fair. And realistic! Brawls just sorta happen depending on who shows up down in the mean streets. Or Korean government :P

Seems like a brawl is a lot less dependent on all parties showing, like with the monthlies or a streetfight.
