Nice job to my fellow competitors who all came up with pieces that are filled with Avenger-y goodness :)!

Beastie, as always a joy to see your art. Well done on all fronts.
122EricWest, you have nice energy here. Anatomy and proportions are off. Awkward composition and cropping. Spatial relationships are confusing.
Scmarooney, nice choice for the fight and composition is good. The main thing is I don't feel like anyone is fighting. Usually there is a chaotic energy to your art. Thor and his opponent looks like they are dancing very stiffly. Shellhead looks like he's posing. Hulk almost looks like he's fighting, but I never get the sense that he's swinging his fists. Wasp looks like she's striking a disco pose. I don't know why she's pointing like that. I can understand why Ant Man is pointing to direct his ant army, but the smiles on both of them are out of place during a fight like this.
The others feel unfinished and/or rushed.
Beastie gets my vote.

I really feel like if Jeloschi's was finished it would get my vote. however, with it being only half done I'm going to have to hunker down and decide between Eric Scmarooney and Beasties.
Since I've been listening to "Stayin Alive" this morning I might go with Scmarooney based on disco-wasp alone... tough call.

Thank you for the feedback, Symson. I agree with everything you said in this critique. I consciously made a decision to "dial back" the action a bit in this one, as I felt some of my more recent pieces were a bit over the top ;), but it probably hurt this illustration and made it feel more static. I had read a reprint of Avengers #1 by Lee and Kirby just prior to drawing this, and was trying to capture a feel of the events and conflicts of that issue: with Iron Man and the Hulk fighting and Thor fighting Loki and some wacky Asgardian Troll. Wasp and Ant Man were an effort (again with mixed results) to tie them into the overall composition, with both of them pointing at the two threads of action that happened in that issue.

You mean just the black and white stuff? I DO enjoy doing that - but not as much as the coloured stuff really.
PLUS, when I do a more 'substantial' piece - I'm always thinking about the final product - and selling prints of that image. The coloured stuff is definitely more attractive to buyers. :)
