I dont think the foreshortening on the arm looks all that wrong. It is the rest of the body that is throwing it off.
I am guessing we are supposed to be looking up at this guy. But his face is drawn eye level. Also we lose his neck. Not sure if this image will help at all, but when doing tricky shots like this, always draw your forced perspective lines. it will help keep you honest when you are unsure.
