I have enjoyed Big Time so far, and Dan Slott is killing it on this title. He brings in the classic element of Spidey that's been missing for years, as well as bringing in revamped villains, complex plots, and a Spider-Man we can relate to again (and other characters too for that matter).

If you haven't caught up, here's a brief summary I put together:

Recently, both Peter Parker and Spider-Man have hit the Big Time. Peter got a new job at Horizon Labs on the Think Tank and is tasked with making the next big thing. Spidey is on two Avengers teams, as well as being on the FF (Future Foundation), giving him access to a whole new set of allies. He also has a new girlfriend, Carlie Cooper, and a ton of money in his pocket to buy a new apartment that is strictly his.

But with this good change, there is also the bad. Old enemies have risen and are taking back their rightful places in Spidey's rogues gallery. The Sinister Six, led once again by the diabolical Dr. Octopus, are planning to take over the world. The Hobgoblin was even revamped into an insane psychotic murderer who almost let Spidey bite the dust, and Alistair Smythe, the Spider-Slayer, planned to kill everyone who was close to J. Jonah Jameson, and instead killed his beloved wife, Marla, almost forcing Spider-Man over the edge and declare that "no one dies".

In addition to all of this, he has also been hit by another huge death: the death of Johnny Storm, his best friend in the superhero biz, who was killed by Annihilus and his army. He has also been battered around in the Avengers groups by taking on Kang's interdimensional time-raid and Agamotto's dimensional take-over. He has also been busy helping the X-Men fight lizard creatures deep underground. So far, life for Peter has its ups and definetly its downs, but it's about to get a lot more stranger...

What do you guys think of Big Time in the future?

I wonder how a guy even has time to drop a deuce when he's doing all of that shit.

Sucks that Humberto left the book after a couple of issues.

He is the Best Spiderman artist that Marvel has by far.

I like Immonen, and respect the guys artistic skills.

His big super hero comics are boring, sorry. I've tried to read a bunch of his books, and I'm always like UGH why do they have you on this? I liked nextwave tho

Yeah Humberto isn't as classy as Mr Immonen (look at spidergirls fist WTF is that??) ,BUT damn I know his spiderman stories are going to be fun as hell with heroes beating the crap out of each other.

Some characters IMHO need that high action, crazy battles, and sexy chicks in there books and Immonen just isn't that type of comic book artist. It's like he can almost take it over the top, but his realistic foundation reals him back in.

He's the guy you hire when you want to do something with more realistic characters like a Ultimates etc..
,and I'm sure he did some run of spiderman that was acceptable to one of the various group of fans that book has. Not for me tho =/

As I start to read more comics lately, I've noticed allot of the guys I like to look at for there art aren't that great when it comes to telling stories. Or they are good at telling stories ,but there style is not correct for the book.

For instance Chris Bachalo, ever try to read any book hes done in the last 5 years??? It may be the worst storytelling with the prettiest art in comics.

Another guy that I love to look at his art,but reading comics from him is torture... is Chris Sprouse.
I even own pages from him, but reading his books is like taking a sleeping pill...

Hey I really like Ramos on Spidey too. For awhile I fell out of love with Ramos stuff but his recent Spidey work is making me dig the guy all over again. But you picked the plainest page out of that Immonen Spider-man story for what reason? lol I could just post a talking heads page of Ramos recent issues and say he is a boring spiderman artist too.

Bendis' stuff skews towards talking heads more than most writers but with Ultimate Spiderman he had the perfect balance. There was usually a big fight scene in each issue and Immonen drew them up great!

Don't get me wrong I like Immonen alot. I think he is an amazing artist, but for spidey I need someone to push it abit.

If you look at the pages above there a tad on the dull side, they just don't have that extra energy that I think a Spiderman book deserves.

Now that I look at it the issue isn't that he draws to real its that he picks mediocre shots.

It's more a direction choice then anything

Also Humberto back on spidey YAY!

Ohh nice. Ramos is the artist for that Spidey Island thing. I can understand where you are coming from. I loved Immonen's stuff because it was a more detailed version of his Nextwave style. Those new Ramos pics remind me of Eric Canete alittle. Though I bet Canete took influence from Ramos.

Off topic, but... since you like this artist as well =P

Ramos is in his best part of his career right now.

He just a little bit better at drawing everything now clearly so he can go wild with his imagination/storytelling.

I love when artists get to the point where there not struggling to figure thing out anymore ,and can just create.

It's really hard to get to that point even for the pros.

I met him last year, and I'm envious of the guy LOL.

Hes incredibly humble, loves comics, is fast as all hell, and doesn't gouge prices on his sketchbooks/con sketches.

All that and his wife is cute, WTF haha.

I recently saw an auction on ebay where the seller put one of his commissions way to low, and forgot to put a reserve.

So I used a sniper program ,and grabbed it for almost nothing. The seller was so pissed that he even wrote me later saying I can't believe I let this go for so low.
