alrite so week 3 is upon us :pj: ...week 1 topics are here http://www.penciljack.com/forum/showthread.php?107382-selkirk-s-weekly-public-domain-characters-sketch-group-1-^^-D week 2 topics are here http://www.penciljack.com/forum/showthread.php?107493-public-domain-characters-sketch-group-2-golden-agers-ftw-^^-D .
backgrounder:
something i have been meaning to get at for awhile(pondered a sketch a day with these characters :omg: ) is drawing/reinventing these old public domain heroes here- http://pdsh.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Characters . format will be *three characters per week and any and all are welcome to join :pj: .
new topic will be on saturday :lml-:, keep in mind with these characters most of them are golden age and there will be little to no reference(maybe just one pic) so use your imagination and do what you want, a faithful recreation or reinvent the character entirely.
micro-face, stuntman, and nyoka the jungle girl are week 3 pdcsg characters:
micro-face's page is here- http://pdsh.wikia.com/wiki/Micro-Face

stuntman's page is here- http://pdsh.wikia.com/wiki/Stuntman

nyoka the jungle girl's page is here- http://pdsh.wikia.com/wiki/Nyoka_the_Jungle_Girl

* a decision was made to increase the number of weekly characters to three-namely to ensure that we get at least one female character a week-why? because the girls are more fun to draw :D. so how would it work if the first two random characters are male? then the third would be rolled until a female character is selected-the reverse is not true :pj:...we could have three female characters(unlikely as the list is mostly male). so anyway just a note going forward-this is seriously the last change to the character number ^^; . i think we can agree on the wisdom of this decision after this week's first 2 selections-no offense fans of micro-face :D.
notes-follow the links on the wikia pages for more pics/bio etc-also this comicvine link has some good images of micro-face(helps understand his mask) http://www.comicvine.com/micro-face/29-74300/images/
further notes-most of the girls on wikia are jungle girls...one doesn't question the reasons why :lml-:

Nice choices, Selkirk! I think you should keep it two characters... just my thoughts. I'll put one up in the next day or so (don't want to step in from of SCMarooney!:D).

cool bro, eager to see what you come up with(micro-face actually is pretty badass) and yeah marooney really rocks these chars :headbang:. as to going to three-well i really didn't want to go to three but for the reasons outlined above(i mean it's tough with just two guys ^^; ...plus it gives a little more room for choice generally) and there are a ton of characters on wikia.

:D Thanks, necenarro! I love it when there is a new sketch group and have to draw something I wouldn't otherwise be drawing that week!

Thanks, Selkirk! I think that the two character thing was okay, or go with three if you want. Agree that one of them has to be a female character though, as I need practice drawing the ladies! Thanks for coming up with this new group idea, great job!
And here's one of a character I have never heard of before- Microface:

Thanks, Selkirk! That's a cool, and somewhat ominous looking Microface you drew there!
Nice job on your version of Microface too, Ratcrack! I like the faux-cover thing.
I was looking through the "origins" of these characters and while not intentionally hilarious they are definitely convoluted and strange. I decided to do a quick drawing of Nyoka, who apparently has an Uncle who killed her father (his twin) assumed his identity to control a diamond mine and is an all around bad guy. This is probably what it would be like if Skin-emax turned this story into an after-hours R-rated sort of thing.

The last two entries, I didn't change much, but Micro Head needed more help. If only because his name doesn't make sense. So, I decided that Micro meant Micro-chip and turned him into a super-suit kind of guy. He has giant batteries on his back to power everything (stole that idea from Megavolt on Darkwing Duck). He has a taser and electrified brass nuckles for offense. Since all of that would be quite heavy he also gets hydraulically powered leg boosters and spring boots. Then to top it all off he has a small sensor package that sticks up that could be confused for a micro as in small head. He looked kind of plain as line art so today you get color. Too bad I messed up on the shading.

Great job everyone... micro-face seems like an interesting character, may have to try that one.
But hey I agree.... girls are more fun to draw!

Great job, Segludian, that's an interesting redesign!
Nice job Chuck! An illustration that is faithful to the source material!
Great Job Zippy! Nice colors on the Microface!

Now there's a cheerful fellow, scmarooney. I'm unfamiliar with the original, but I kind of imagine the Stuntman as being this very happy devil-may-care kind of guy.

Or the second.
It may not be possible to link with DA; I'm sure the artists around here would know better than I would.
Try to post your images on photobucket.com instead.

Thanks Wo-Nellie! I wasn't too familiar with the original either, but it was a fun one to draw!
Mr. Nixon- Definitely try to use Photobucket (the one I use most of the time) or imageshack. There is a way to post your image from DA, but it requires some sort of insider knowledge that I don't know, and DA has a policy against remote-linking which is why it's harder to do. Both Photobucket and Imageshack are free and easy to use.

Thank you! I used a Windsor and Newton series 7 #2 brush. I just got it about a week ago, so I'm still trying to get a handle on it.

Here are my quick entries. I set myself a deadline of 45 minutes for both of these together.

I'm pretty satisfied with Nyoka, though the pose is pretty stiff. Stuntman looks crosseyed, though.
