Shoot for 10-15 minutes.
All mediums are permitted, but, traditional mediums are encouraged.
This is not a competition, the goal here is to reinterpret the image as best you can within the time limit.

Keep the drawing fairly loose and fluid.
Try blocking in quick shapes.
Maintain composition as best as you can. If you want to change the figure so its more fun, that's fine, just try to maintain the actual overall composition.
Try to add values to help bring out the form.

No Tracing.
Try not to use an overlay.
Try not to use a color picker if painting digitally. Try to train your eye to identify colors.
Try not to get too hung up on the details. Instead, focus more on the overall composition and basic anatomy 1st. Details after if time permits.

Again this is new to me so if anyone has any suggestions for improvements or tips and pointers please let me know.

Most of all, just have fun!!

I just found a free sketching app called SketchBook Express and used this opportunity to try it out with a Wacom.

[QUOTE=Arne S.;1200692]good one scmarooney, but her head seems a little small.

Thanks, Arne! I think I made the same mistake on this one. Ah well, used to be I was drawing heads too big, now they're too small. One of these times I'll get it right!

I did this one over lunch on Friday. If I remember correctly, it took me about 25 minutes. It looked kind of cool for a minute but then I kept messing with it and screwed up the face and hair (not that they weren't already messed up). Now it looks kind of creepy.
