Shoot for 10-15 minutes.
All mediums are permitted, but, traditional mediums are encouraged.
This is not a competition, the goal here is to reinterpret the image as best you can within the time limit.

Keep the drawing fairly loose and fluid.
Try blocking in quick shapes.
Maintain composition as best as you can. If you want to change the figure so its more fun, that's fine, just try to maintain the actual overall composition.
Try to add values to help bring out the form.

No Tracing.
Try not to use an overlay.
Try not to use a color picker if painting digitally. Try to train your eye to identify colors.
Try not to get too hung up on the details. Instead, focus more on the overall composition and basic anatomy 1st. Details after if time permits.

Again this is new to me so if anyone has any suggestions for improvements or tips and pointers please let me know.

Most of all, just have fun!!

thanks, kc! Love to use these speed drawings as warm-ups for whatever else I'm going to be drawing (usually over in the weekly sketch group or my monthly PUMMEL thing.)

Here's another one. This one was deceptively difficult. Decided to not use the eraser and just leave the "mistakes" as they are:

bummer about #52 getting deleted in the great forum vomit of november, I had all 4 done too!

here's this week's. I've got a little 5x3 sketchbook I keep on me, been printing off the photos and completing them whenever I get a break, keeps my pencil busy anyhow!

OK. I just thought I'd give the speed drawing group a try. I just bought a wacom intuos 4 tablet and I am trying to learn digital painting.

These each took around 30 mins (I couldn't do it in under 15) and aren't all that good but I'm just happy to get the practice.
